The pigeons are back and this time, they’ve left the city behind. Pirots 4 by ELK Studios launches its signature flock into deep space, where the chaos unfolds across an evolving reel grid. This fourth entry in the Pirots series once again ditches traditional paylines in favour of symbol collection mechanics, wild upgrades, and feature triggers based on what each bird hoovers up. As far as online slots go, Pirots 4 is more of a sandbox: where your reels grow, shift, and react to what lands.
Space pigeons. That’s the pitch. And, honestly, it works better than it sounds. Each bird is color-coded and fitted with some sort of futuristic helmet, flying through an asteroid field littered with floating gems and alien tech. The visual style is consistent with ELK’s previous Pirots titles, keeping things cartoonish but not childish. Think less interstellar drama, more animated mischief in zero gravity.
The paytable in Pirots 4 is tied to the value of symbols collected by each pigeon. Higher-tier symbols reward more, but only if your bird buddies gobble them up. Here's a breakdown of the symbol values in ascending order:

At the core of Pirots 4’s progression lies the Collection Meter. As birds collect gems or wilds during cascades, the meter fills up. Once full, it triggers a Feature Symbol Release, with up to three release slots active at a time. These released symbols can potentially shift the state of the grid by adding powerful modifiers. If the meter is already full and another feature symbol would be released, it’s instead queued for the next round.
If birds find themselves stuck with no matching symbols to collect, they’ll perform a little trick called Switcheroo, where adjacent birds swap places to open up new possibilities. But if they’re stranded entirely with no adjacent options, Space Switcheroo activates instead, relocating birds to the edge or to the nearest collectible symbol to keep things moving.
When three or more birds are stuck adjacent to each other, Power Clash kicks in. The birds fire off an energy burst that clears a 5x5 area around them. Afterwards, they’re launched outward from the blast zone, collecting anything in their paths, including feature symbols.
The corners of the grid aren’t just dead space, they’re booby-trapped. If a corner contains a bomb matching the colour of a bird, that bird can detonate it. This clears a 3x3 area around the bomb and also causes the grid to expand, potentially creating more opportunities for feature symbol interactions or gem collections.
As players chip away at space station structures on the board, tunnels and portals are revealed. These act as teleporters or bridges for birds, especially when used in combination with Spacecorn symbols. Tunnels allow birds to move beneath empty tiles, while portals enable direct jumps across the grid.
Each time the Collection Meter fills, one of several feature symbols is randomly released onto the grid:
This feature unlocks if players manage to clear the entire grid during a round involving Spacecorn. Lost in Space is a coin collection bonus game played on a blank grid. It begins with three spins and resets the count every time a coin or bridge lands. The goal here is to collect coins and build bridges across the grid, with each collected coin contributing to the total potential prize pot.
Alien Invasion is activated via the Alien Invasion feature symbol once all movement has concluded. A new character, the Space Bandit, enters the board and moves vertically down each column. When it encounters a bird, a duel begins. If the Bandit wins, a global win multiplier increases. If the bird wins, the Bandit gets booted from the board, ending the feature.
This is a random end-of-round mechanic. If no other feature has triggered when the round ends, Charlie’s Extra Chance can potentially cause one or more corner bombs to detonate anyway. It acts as a sort of last-minute rescue feature.
Collecting three Scatters triggers Free Spins, and collecting three Super Scatters launches Super Free Spins. What sets these apart is progression carryover, anything unlocked or upgraded in the base game persists through Free Spins. This includes grid size, gem upgrades, and feature symbol progress. Super Free Spins take things further by starting on an 8x8 grid and applying all gem upgrades globally, regardless of bird colour.
Forget paylines or ways to win. Pirots 4 is all about movement and reaction. Each round begins with birds placed on the board and symbols dropped onto the grid. Birds then move in steps toward matching-colored symbols, collecting them and triggering avalanches. These movements aren’t random; they’re calculated, aiming at the shortest path. If birds can’t find a matching symbol, the round ends.
If you're into offbeat slots that toss tradition out the window, here are a few others worth checking out:
Pirots 4 keeps the chaos from earlier entries but makes it feel a bit more refined. The moving bird mechanic still carries the core identity, but the additions, like the Feature Meter and upgrade progression, give it more momentum. That said, the randomness of bird movement can occasionally clash with the strategy-minded feel the rest of the game builds.
