Rather than being a standard single-player darts tournament, the World Cup of Darts, which is organised by the Professional Darts Corporation, or PDC, is a team darts competition. The World Cup of Darts was launched in 2010, and has taken place in different months over the years. However, since 2022, the tournament has taken place in the month of June.
As well as the World Cup of Darts being competed in June, the competition also continues to be based in Frankfurt, Germany, and this will be the location for the upcoming event in 2025. As you will expect, the tournament’s format has changed over the years. Currently, forty nations are included in the competition, with twelve groups of three countries battling it out in the group stage while the highest-ranked nations get a bye into the next stage. Doubles being a part of the tournament throughout is also here to stay.
The World Cup of Darts is one of the most exciting events on the PDC calendar, with the format itself being a driving force behind the tournament’s popularity. It’s also a popular darts event to place bets on too, and here are some of the markets available to explore.
The outright winner betting market is a popular choice in the World Cup of Darts format. Punters have the option to place bets in this specific market before the tournament gets underway, and during, taking into account how nations are performing at various stages. England, which is a team made up of duo Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, are the reigning champions and start as one of the favourites to win the competition in 2025. They are available at a short price ahead of the event starting on 12th June.
Again, the format of the World Cup of Darts really helps to make this market, the match betting market, a popular choice because there are different stages included in the competition. From the group stage through to the final, punters can wager on the outcome of single matches. And it's worth noting that things such as form, head to head records, average throw rates and more can be taken into account before placing wagers on matches. Match betting is the most popular market during the tournament by far.
There are many other great markets to explore where the World Cup of Darts is concerned. However, live darts betting in darts is quickly becoming an incredibly popular choice, and for good reason. With tournaments such as the World Cup of Darts broadcast live on television, punters can watch the action as it unfolds and place bets based on what they’re seeing as matches progress. In-play betting is huge in other sports, such as football, and it’s now making a name for itself in darts.

As is the case with any sports tournament, the reigning champions have to be considered to have a fantastic chance of defending their crown, especially when it’s the English duo of Luke Humphries and Luke Littler who won the World Cup of Darts in 2024. England is currently top favorite with the winners odds at 4/11*.
Wales (Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton), who were winners in 2020 and 2023 are second favourite with their odds currently at 7/2*. Both are high-ranking players on the PDC Order of Merit, with Price being a former world champion (2021).
Scotland (Peter Wright and Gary Anderson), with two titles (2019, 2021), are also strong contenders.
