Mini Games
Massive Gold Power Staxx puts Snowborn Games behind the controls of a slot machine that seems determined to become a spacecraft. We get a 5x3 grid with 20 paylines, cash collection mechanics and an expanding Staxx symbol that can reveal extra prizes. Jet Spins and Overdrive Spins take the action further with the Mach Booster, while 1UP symbols increase its multiplier. Most of the features revolve around collecting values, but there are enough different routes into that system to keep the machinery busy.
Most of the screen looks like a slot machine has been bolted to the back of a rocket. Five large exhausts sit beneath the reels, while the Mach Booster waits above them and the surrounding space scenery moves as the features gather speed. We still get recognisable casino symbols in the middle of all that engineering, including dice, bells and red sevens. Apparently interstellar travel hasn't killed the classics.
That amount of movement gives Massive Gold Power Staxx a livelier presentation than many quieter online slot games. We like how the visual speed increases when the bonus mechanics become active, rather than leaving the background completely disconnected from the reels. Gold and purple effects also make Staxx and 1UP symbols easy to pick out against the darker machinery.
The card ranks occupy the lower end of the paytable before dice, bells and classic casino icons take over. The Wild sits above the regular symbols with the strongest standard potential payouts.

Gold Bars and Staxx symbols occupy the first four reels, while Collect symbols remain on the fifth. Once at least one Collect symbol lands, we gather all qualifying potential values visible on Gold Bars and Staxx symbols.
The Staxx mechanic can make that collection considerably larger. When a Staxx symbol appears on the top or middle position, the symbol moves down and expands through the reel. We then reveal additional prizes across the expanded area, including cash values and other special results.
Power Staxx gives the title feature its main twist. An expanded Staxx can reveal between three and eight extra potential prizes, while the final position can produce another cash value, a Mini result, a Major result or a 1UP symbol.
We therefore don't know the complete value of a Staxx until the full symbol has opened. That small delay works well with the space theme, since the reel behaves rather like another booster being powered up.
The Mach Booster increases when we collect 1UP symbols. During the base game, we can build the multiplier as high as x10, and the value applies when Collect Wins activates before returning to x1.
Jet Spins and Overdrive Spins expand the Booster range further, allowing the multiplier to reach x50. This makes 1UP symbols particularly useful once one of those bonus games begins.
Three Jet Spins symbols on reels one, three and five give us 10 bonus spins. Throughout the round, 1UP symbols continue raising the Mach Booster.
Every time we advance to another Booster level, we receive three additional bonus spins. The longer the progression continues, the more opportunities we have for Collect Wins to use the increased multiplier.
Collecting an Overdrive symbol on all five reels begins the feature with five bonus spins. We then work through six stages by collecting three Fuel Cells to advance each time.
Completing a stage awards another five bonus spins and raises the Mach Booster multiplier. Overdrive therefore puts more emphasis on progression than Jet Spins, since we have a series of stages rather than one continuous Booster climb.
Once Overdrive Spins finish, we enter Afterburner. The reels continue spinning until Collect Wins activates, giving the accumulated feature one final collection before the round closes.
We like the idea because the final stage doesn't simply end when the ordinary bonus spins run out. Afterburner makes sure the progression finishes with the mechanic the whole feature has been building towards.
Every Gold Bar that appears can be counted by the Bonus Star beside the reels, with a chance for the separate respin round to begin. We start with three respins on an empty grid.
Only Gold Bar and Prize symbols can then land. Each new qualifying symbol resets the counter to three, and we collect all accumulated potential prizes once no respins remain.
We start on five reels and three rows with 20 fixed paylines. Potential combinations need at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, beginning with reel one.
The layout itself stays conventional, but the reel restrictions matter. Gold Bars and Staxx symbols can only appear on the first four reels, while Collect symbols belong exclusively to reel five. This makes the final reel particularly important whenever potential cash values are already waiting elsewhere on the grid.
The wider online casino catalogue contains plenty of collect mechanics, but we get a slightly different rhythm here because Staxx can expand before the collection takes place. Jet Spins and Overdrive Spins then keep the same underlying structure while making the Mach Booster progression more important.
We'd compare Massive Gold Power Staxx with other recent online casinos games where collections, multipliers or a space setting carry most of the mechanics.
We think Massive Gold Power Staxx has more going on than the first 5x3 glance suggests. The base grid is conventional, but Staxx expansions and the Mach Booster give the cash collection system more personality than a simple symbol meets collector setup.
Jet Spins and Overdrive Spins are fairly closely related, which is where we find the main weakness. Both rely heavily on 1UP progression and Booster multipliers, so the names change more dramatically than the underlying idea. Overdrive does at least earn its place through the staged Fuel Cell system and Afterburner ending.
The presentation helps. We like the sense of speed when the features gather momentum, and the Staxx reveal fits naturally into that machinery. Snowborn Games hasn't reinvented collection mechanics here, but the engine has received enough extra parts to keep us occupied.
