UFC & MMA Betting & Odds

MMA betting has come a long way over the past decade. What used to be a fairly niche corner of the online sportsbook is now one of the busiest sections going, especially when there's a UFC card on the weekend, which honestly there usually is. Canadian fans have been part of that growth in a big way too, partly because the sport has properly mainstreamed here, partly because the betting product has gotten so much better.

So if you're new to it, or you're just looking to find a new home for your UFC wagers, BetVictor is set up for it. There's a lot to choose from in terms of markets, the odds are competitive, and you can place bets in the lead-up or while the fight is happening. Below we'll run through the main markets, talk about which promotions are worth following, and answer a couple of common questions at the end.

What are MMA/UFC betting markets?

When people talk about UFC betting markets, they usually mean the various ways you can wager on a single fight. There are loads of them, and some are more popular than others. Here's the rundown.

Winner or Moneyline

The moneyline is just picking who wins. That's it. Doesn't matter how they win, KO, submission, decision, whatever, if your fighter gets the W you collect. The price will depend on whether they're favoured or not.

A small thing to be aware of though. Draws do happen in MMA. Not often, but they do. Usually it's the judges scoring the bout level after the final round (a majority or split draw), or occasionally a referee ends a bout as a no contest because of an accidental foul or something similar. When a draw is on your market and the fight ends in one, the moneyline bet on either fighter loses. Just something to keep in the back of your mind.

Total Rounds

Pretty straightforward this one. The book sets a number, usually something like 1.5 or 2.5, and you bet whether the fight goes longer or shorter than that.

So if the line is 1.5 and the fight goes into round three, "Over 1.5" cashes. If the fight ends in the first or second round, "Under 1.5" pays out instead. Easy enough once you've placed a couple.

The Fight To Go The Distance

Closely related to total rounds but framed differently. You're picking whether the fight ends inside the distance (a finish) or whether it goes to the judges' scorecards (the distance).

Now, there's quite a bit to think about with this market. Weight class is a big one. The heavier the division, the more likely you'll see an early finish because of how much harder these guys hit. Lighter divisions, generally more technical, more cardio, more often go all the way to the scorecards. There are obviously exceptions but as a general rule it holds up.

You should also be looking at fight length. Most UFC bouts are scheduled for three five-minute rounds. Title fights and main events go five rounds. Obviously more rounds means more time for someone to get finished, so the odds shift accordingly.

Method of Victory

Method of victory is where things get interesting from a price perspective. You're not just picking the winner, you're calling how they win. KO/TKO, submission, decision. Or sometimes by disqualification, although you'd be doing very well to land that one.

Most books group the options together, so you'll see something like "Topuria by KO/TKO/DQ" as one selection. That way you're not trying to predict the exact method, just the general category. The odds are bigger than the moneyline because it's harder to be right.

Round Betting

And then there's round betting, which is exactly what it sounds like. You're calling which round the fight ends in, plus the winner.

This one rewards people who actually know the fighters. Some guys are absolute first-round dynamite, they come out swinging and either land the shot or get stopped themselves. Others have a slower start and build up, looking to grind opponents down in rounds three through five when the cardio gap starts showing. Knowing the patterns helps a lot with this market.

Popular MMA competitions to bet on

The UFC is the big one. Has been for a long time and that's not changing any time soon. The roster depth, the production, the global reach, none of the other promotions are anywhere near. UFC numbered cards (the pay-per-views) regularly do over a million viewers in North America, and the bigger ones, your UFC 300, your record-breakers, can push into the 2 million plus range live, with millions more catching highlights afterwards.

Underneath the UFC, things are a bit more complicated than they were a few years back. The PFL acquired Bellator a while ago so the two now operate under the same umbrella. It's still a different product than the UFC, the league-and-tournament format gives the season more of a narrative arc, and there are still some recognisable names you'd want to watch. For Canadian fans who want a second source of MMA, that's where to look.

There are smaller regional promotions too. Cage Warriors over in Europe is a popular feeder for the UFC. ONE Championship out of Asia does a different style of MMA with elements of kickboxing and Muay Thai. These get less coverage but the dedicated fans follow them closely.

Anyway, here at BetVictor you can bet on the UFC and on the bigger non-UFC cards as they come up.

UFC White House Freedom 250

One of the biggest UFC events of 2026 is coming up in June. The promotion is making history with the UFC White House card on Sunday 14 June 2026. UFC Freedom 250 will be staged on the South Lawn of the White House, the first ever combat sports event held on the grounds. Topuria takes on Gaethje in the main event for the undisputed lightweight title. For the full card, current odds and how to watch in Canada, our UFC Freedom 250 betting page has the lot.

UFC Betting Tips

  • Fighter's Form: When you bet on UFC matches, it pays to look at the form of fighters coming into the event. Once you see their recent fight record, you’ll get a clearer picture of how things might play out in the Octagon.
  • Matchup Styles: They say styles make fights but they also decide them. Keep a close eye on the respective style of the two fighters as this can offer a clue on who might win.
  • Weight Class: With 12 different weight classes in the UFC, there are many occasions when fighters either go up or down a division to make a specific fight happen. The fighters who do this can often be at a disadvantage against someone in their favoured weight class.
  • Injuries and Health: Injuries are part and parcel of the UFC. It’s always wise to keep track of any injuries a fighter may be carrying in the build-up to a fight given that their opponent will seek to exploit any weakness on fight night.
  • Venue and Location: The UFC is no different from any other sport in that home-ground advantage often plays a crucial part in the final result. Make sure you know where the event is happening and who could benefit from partisan support.
  • Odds: Whenever you see higher odds, know that a fighter is not tipped to win while lower odds make a fighter the favourite to prevail in the Octagon.
  • Fight Records: Closely examine a fighter’s overall career record. This way, you’ll be able to tell if they’re undefeated or prone to losing more than winning.
