When Is the 2027 Ryder Cup?
Competition runs from Friday 17 September to Sunday 19 September at Adare Manor in County Limerick. The wider event begins on Monday 13 September, allowing four days for practice and the build-up before the first point is contested.
There are two team sessions on both Friday and Saturday. All 24 players then return for Sunday’s 12 singles matches.
Where Is the 2027 Ryder Cup Being Played?
This is Adare Manor’s first Ryder Cup. The event’s only previous visit to Ireland came in 2006, when Europe overwhelmed the US at The K Club.
Tom Fazio’s rebuilt course reopened in 2018 and can stretch to 7,509 yards from the championship tees. It is a par 72 with more room off the tee than many major venues, although that width should not be mistaken for an easy route around. Water, bold bunkering and the angles into the greens reward players who choose the correct side of the fairway.
The River Maigue is part of the challenge, and so is the Irish weather. A wet week would make the course feel every yard of its length. Wind would create a different selection problem for Donald and Furyk, particularly in foursomes where one loose swing can cost a pair the hole.
Several likely contenders already know Adare from the JP McManus Pro-Am. What they cannot rehearse is the atmosphere once tens of thousands of supporters surround those same holes.
2027 Ryder Cup Captains
Luke Donald – Europe
Donald led Europe to victory in Rome in 2023, then oversaw a rare away win at Bethpage two years later. He now has the chance to complete three successful captaincies in a row.
His biggest strength has been clarity. Europe arrived at the last two contests with established pairings, defined roles and very few surprises. Adare Manor should also feel much friendlier than New York did in 2025.
Donald has already begun shaping his backroom team. By July 2026, Edoardo Molinari and Francesco Molinari had been named as vice captains.
Jim Furyk – United States
Furyk returns for his second spell as US Ryder Cup captain. His first ended in a 17½-10½ defeat at Le Golf National in 2018, but he later captained the Americans to Presidents Cup victory in Montreal in 2024.
He knows the difficulty of winning on European soil. The United States have not done so since The Belfry in 1993, and Adare is likely to produce another intense away atmosphere. Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard were Furyk’s first confirmed vice captains.
Players to Watch in 2027
Rory McIlroy will own much of the spotlight if he qualifies. The Northern Irishman has grown into one of Europe’s dressing-room leaders and can expect a thunderous reception in Limerick. Shane Lowry supplies another strong Irish connection, while Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton have already shown what they can do together in foursomes. Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Åberg may also form part of Donald’s core.
For the US, the road back starts with Scottie Scheffler. Furyk must decide whether to use his best player in all four team sessions or protect some energy for Sunday. Bryson DeChambeau brings power and emotion; Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas offer experience.
None of those names is locked in yet. Results across the 2026 and 2027 seasons will decide the automatic places before each captain completes his side with six picks.
How the Ryder Cup Works
Twelve players make each team and 28 points are spread across the weekend.
- Foursomes: Partners alternate shots using one ball. One player tees off on the odd-numbered holes and the other on the even-numbered holes.
- Four-balls: Both partners play their own ball. The lower score from each pair counts on the hole.
- Singles: One European faces one American over 18 holes.
Stroke totals are irrelevant: each hole is its own small contest. Win more holes than the opposition and you win the match, worth one point; finish level after 18 and both sides receive half a point.
Fourteen and a half points secure the Cup outright. At 14-14, Europe would keep it as the holders.
2027 Ryder Cup Betting Markets
Tournament Winner
This is the main market on which team will win the Ryder Cup. A tie may be offered as a separate selection, so check whether your bet is a three-way market or includes a draw-no-bet condition.
Remember that a 14-14 result allows Europe to keep the trophy but is still officially a tie. “To win the Ryder Cup” and “to lift or retain the trophy” can therefore be settled differently.
Session Betting
You can bet on which team will score more points in a particular session, such as Friday foursomes or Saturday four-balls. A session can end level.
Pairings are announced closer to play. Waiting for them allows you to judge the individual matchups, although prices may move once the line-up becomes public.
Match Betting
Individual matches usually offer Europe, United States and tie selections. In team sessions, the wager applies to the named pairings; on Sunday, it covers one singles match.
Match play can turn quickly. A player does not need the lower 18-hole stroke total to win, only to take more individual holes.
Top Points Scorer
Top European, top American and overall points-scorer markets may be available. Playing time is crucial here. A golfer used in all five sessions has more chances to collect points than somebody who sits out twice.
Tied matches contribute half a point. Dead-heat rules may apply if players finish level at the top of the standings.
Correct Score and Winning Margin
These markets ask how the 28 points will be divided or how many points will separate the teams. They offer more specific outcomes than simply choosing the winner.
Other specials may cover exact first-day scores, individual player points, whether a match reaches the 18th and which team leads after each day. Availability will increase nearer the event.
Live Ryder Cup Betting
With several matches on the course together, the projected score can change within minutes. One missed putt may flip a match while another pairing turns its own contest around elsewhere.
Live markets may include individual matches, session winners and the overall result. Look beyond the score beside a player’s name. Being one up through three holes is very different from holding the same lead on the 17th tee.
Markets can pause while a shot is played or a result is confirmed. Check the current selection and price in the bet slip before placing a live wager.
Who Won the 2025 Ryder Cup?
Europe beat the United States 15-13 at Bethpage Black to retain the Ryder Cup and record their first away victory since the Miracle at Medinah in 2012.
Donald’s team built an 11½-4½ lead across the opening two days. The Americans then produced a huge singles fightback on Sunday, but Tyrrell Hatton’s halved match with Collin Morikawa secured the point Europe needed to win. Shane Lowry had already guaranteed that the trophy would be retained.
The result gave Donald his second victory as captain following Europe’s 16½-11½ success in Rome in 2023.
