How to Bet on NFL Games at BetVictor Sportsbook

If you want to bet on the NFL matches online with us at BetVictor Canada, here's a straightforward guide that you can use to get started on how to bet on the NFL.

Best NFL Bets & Markets

What kind of NFL fan are you? Many choose their winners based on their favourite players or teams, while others take a more analytical approach. Here are some of the most popular bets players make on the NFL:

NFL Moneyline Bet

This NFL bet simply revolves around picking which team will win a specific game. Should the chosen team win the game, the bet will be marked as a winning one and awarded at the corresponding odds. The betting favourite shows a minus (-) and underdogs with a plus (+) For example: Patriots Moneyline -250 means you need to wager $250 in order to win $100 ($350 in total, $100 net winnings + $250 staked amount). Likewise, Steelers Moneyline +180 means a $100 bet would return $280 in total, $180 profit plus $100 stake.

NFL Point Spread Betting

This type of bet is similar to the moneyline bet, however, each team will have a handicap applied to their score. For example, you could back the Patriots  with a handicap of -12.5, which means they would need to win by at least 13 clear points for the bet to be marked as a successful one.

NFL Totals Over/Under Betting

Place a bet on the total combined points scored in the game. If the Over/Under line is set at 41.5, a final score of 24–20 (44 total points) would hit the Over, while a final score of 24–13 (37 total points) would hit the Under.

NFL Prop Wagers

In the NFL, prop bets, also known as proposition bets, track specific outcomes in a game or season. These bets could revolve around the statistics of a particular athlete or a team's performance throughout a season.

NFL Parlay Betting

NFL Same Game Parlay Builder

Our NFL Same Game Parlay Tool lets you combine multiple bets into a single wager for a bigger potential payout. Try our free SGP Builder to build your own NFL bets.

NFL Futures Betting

As the name suggests, these are typically long term betting options, such as which team will win the Superbowl or which team will win the National Football Conference.

Of course, these aren't the only betting options, with other popular markets including over or under on the total number of points, naming the first touchdown scorer, winning margin, and so much more!

NFL Betting Odds Explained

In Canada, the preferred betting format for NFL odds is decimal. You can find the potential winnings associated with decimal odds by simply multiplying your stake size by the current odds.

Our American neighbours prefer moneyline odds, also known as American odds, which are shown as plus or minus numbers. Meanwhile, fractions are the preferred format in the UK & Ireland.

What is the NFL league structure?

Thirty-two teams compete in the NFL regular season and are divided equally between the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC). Within the two conferences there are four divisions, each containing four teams.

Every team plays 17 games during the regular season, with one ‘bye’ week. The schedule is determined by an algorithm, with current division alignments and the final standings from the previous campaign considered. At BetVictor, we are there for every game in every conference with an extensive selection of NFL Betting markets.

What is the NFL Playoff structure?

After the regular season finishes, the playoffs get underway. The four division champions from each conference qualify for the playoffs and are seeded one to four based on their win-loss-tied record. A further three wild-card teams from each conference also qualify – the three with the best record of the remaining teams in the conference are selected.

The playoffs begin with the wild-card round. After that, the divisional round takes place, with the winners progressing to either the AFC Championship or NFC Championship. The two teams that emerge victorious contest the Super Bowl in a bid to become the overall champions of the NFL season.

At BetVictor, we are with you throughout the playoffs. From the wild-card round to the Super Bowl, we offer NFL Odds on every single match, while our NFL Futures Betting markets are continually updated until the campaign finishes.
