Bravemansgame, ridden by Harry Cobden, was the 2022 King George VI Chase winner. He started as 11/4 second-favourite in the betting and produced a stunning ride, finishing 14 lengths clear of 12/1 shot Royale Pagaille to secure victory for trainer Paul Nicholls.

That victory carried on Nicholls’ impressive rate of success in this race. Since 1997, he has trained 13 winners, including five-time champion Kauto Star and double winners Silviniaco Conti and Clan des Obeaux.

Defending champion Bravemansgame is the Ante Post favourite to win the 2025 King George VI Chase. The 8-year-old has enjoyed a good year, finishing second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and third in the Punchestown Gold Cup, and Paul Nicholls will hope he can carry that form to Kempton.

Two horses are just behind Bravemansgame in the King George VI Chase Betting – Shishkin and Galopin Des Champs. The former won the Ascot Chase and Aintree Bowl this season, while Galopin Des Champs is the reigning Cheltenham Gold Cup winner. Both could be contenders if they run in the King George.

Others toward the top of the betting include Allaho, Gerri Colombe and last year’s favourite L’Homme Presse, who unseated his rider at the last.

Trainer Paul Nicholls hopes to continue his domination of the King George VI Chase in 2025. He has trained the winner in four of the last five editions of the race, including defending champion and this year’s favourite, Bravemansgame.

Willie Mullins is another decorated trainer looking to win the 2025 King George VI Chase. He has triumphed in this race twice before. His first win was in 2001 with Florida Pearl, while his second success came 20 years later in 2021 with Tornado Flyer. He has two King George VI Chase Betting favourites for 2023 – Galopin Des Champs and Allaho. Meanwhile, Nicky Henderson wants to become a four-time winning trainer, with Shishkin his top runner according to the odds.

As for the jockeys, Harry Cobden will hope to make it three wins in six years, having previously won with Clan des Obeaux and Bravemansgame. Sam Twiston-Davies, Bryony Frost and Danny Mullins are also recent winners likely to be involved in this year’s race.
