White Rabbit 2 takes another walk through Wonderland, although this time around it arrives with some more features packed into its pockets. With this sequel, Big Time Gaming brings back its expanding reels system but with a Hold and Spin round, character modifiers and Megapots prizes added on top. You’ll notice the grid can grow impressively tall during free spins, and matching symbols across the many ways to win gives you that well known sense of scale that fans of online slots will recognise.
The return to Wonderland is everything you’d expect, including a cast of recognisable faces who make the occasional appearance. The White Rabbit hops in to enhance prizes, Alice glides through when the feature calls for her, and the Red Queen continues to behave as if all of this was her idea. Of course, the game wouldn’t be complete without some soft, hazy colours to give the background that slightly too whimsical tone we came to know in the original.
White Rabbit 2 draws a lot of inspiration from the original when it comes to the paytable. It opens with card royals and moves up through four gem symbols which form the higher tier of wins.
Symbol | Payout for 5 of a kind |
9-A Royals | 0.6x - 1.5x |
Gem 1 | 2x |
Gem 2 | 5x |
Gem 3 | 10x |
Gem 4 | 25x |
Hold and Spin begins if six or more Coin symbols land. The round then starts with three respins and each new Coin resets the counter. Coins can reveal Bonus Prizes, one of the Wonderland characters or Megapots icons. If three Megapots icons appear, the corresponding jackpot is awarded. Characters modify the round in different ways, such as multiplying a prize, collecting all prizes or adding extra values across the grid. Cupcake symbols can also land during the feature to increase reel height up to 12 positions. Filling the entire grid with Coins doubles the total potential winnings from the round.
Free Spins trigger only in the base game and require three, four or five Scatters for 12, 16 or 20 spins. Each reel begins with between 5 and 7 symbols. Cupcake symbols expand individual reels up to 12 symbols high and these expansions carry over into Hold and Spin if triggered later. Reaching a full 12 symbol reel awards an additional 3 to 12 spins. Up to five retriggers can occur.
The Megapots prizes sit above the reels. They change value on every spin and can only be won during Hold and Spin. Prize ranges are set for the Mini, Midi and Mega pots, with the Mega topping the scale.
During Hold and Spin, characters from Wonderland could appear from within the Coins. Each character adds a specific effect such as collecting prizes, multiplying a value, adding a prize to all positions or duplicating prizes. These modifiers can then go and shape the progression of the feature and create differing outcomes depending on which characters appear.
White Rabbit 2 plays on a 5 reel grid with variable symbol heights. In the base game reels can reach up to seven positions each, creating up to 16807 ways to win. Then there’s the Free Spins, which expand reels up to 12 symbols high, raising the number of ways to a maximum of 248832. All these potential wins form from left to right on adjacent reels and resolve before any feature or expansion effects take place.
Fans of expanding reels and fantasy themes won’t be looking for scraps at BetVictor Casino. Here’s just three games with a similar feel to White Rabbit 2:
White Rabbit 2 was built for pacing, not a few quick bursts here and there. Don’t get us wrong, the expanding reels still carry a certain charm and the Hold and Spin round has enough energy to move the story along. However, the character modifiers are what make this sequel work, even if it doesn’t quite capture the wonder of the original White Rabbit.
