Seventeenth once can be dismissed as a horrible season. Doing it twice makes the numbers rather harder to ignore. Tottenham finished 2025/26 with 41 points, only two clear of relegated West Ham, after winning 10 of their 38 league games.
The biggest problem was at home. Spurs picked up just 15 points at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with three wins there all season. Their overall return wasn’t much prettier: 48 goals scored, 57 conceded and a negative goal difference for the second year running. Richarlison at least found some rhythm, scoring 11 times in the Premier League.
There was, finally, a bit of life near the end. Roberto De Zerbi arrived in the spring and Spurs took 11 points from their last six matches, including the final-day win over Everton that secured survival. That short run is probably more relevant to 2026/27 than much of what came before it.
De Zerbi has since reshaped the defence and midfield, so the Tottenham Hotspur stats worth watching are fairly obvious. Home wins matter. So do clean sheets, goals conceded and whether that late improvement survives over a full season.
