Everton’s first full season back under David Moyes had its good moments, even if the ending rather spoiled things. They collected 49 points and finished 13th, exactly the same position as a year earlier. For a while, though, there was genuine talk of Europe before a winless final stretch dragged them back into mid-table.
The numbers suggest defence wasn’t the main thing holding them back. Everton conceded 50 league goals and were particularly stubborn away from home, where only Arsenal and Manchester City allowed fewer than their 23. That sort of record gave Moyes a decent base to work from.
Finding enough goals was trickier. The Toffees scored 47 across 38 matches, while Beto led their Premier League scoring with nine. For a side that spent part of the spring looking towards the European places, that attacking return left very little room for an off day at the other end.
So the Everton stats worth watching in 2026/27 are probably fairly simple. If the defensive standards hold, improvements in goals scored, chances created and home results could make a noticeable difference. Moyes doesn’t need to reinvent the side, but he does need more threat.
