Leeds spent plenty of 2025/26 with one eye on the bottom three, but the season ended far more comfortably than it once threatened to. Daniel Farke’s side finished 14th with 47 points in their first year back, giving them a decent platform rather than merely a last-day escape.
The change in shape made a difference. Farke moved away from his earlier 4-3-3 and Leeds became happier playing with three centre-backs, more direct running and two forwards closer together. By the end of the campaign they had lost only three of their final 14 league matches.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin benefited as much as anyone. He finished as Leeds’ leading Premier League scorer with 14 goals, giving them a proper focal point through the middle. Harry Wilson has since arrived from Fulham, while James Trafford adds another high-profile option behind the defence.
That makes the Leeds football stats for 2026/27 quite interesting. The biggest question is whether last season’s stronger finish carries over. Goals conceded, Elland Road results and the combined output of Calvert-Lewin and Wilson should probably tell us more than possession figures ever will.
