What is the difference between Snooker and Pool?

There is quite a big difference between Snooker and Pool. The main things that separate the two sports are the number of balls, the sizes of the balls, the table and the game’s rules. See below for all the main differences between Snooker and Pool:  

Snooker

• Total Balls: 22 (15x reds, 1x yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, black and cue ball).
• Pocket Size: Narrow pockets.
• Table Size: Between 5 x 10ft and 6 x 12ft.
• Ball Size: Smaller balls.
• Aim: Win a frame by scoring more points than your opponent. You must first pot all 15 reds (with a colour after each) before potting the coloured balls in order, finishing with the black.

Pool

• Total Balls: 16 (eight-ball Pool), 10 (nine-ball Pool).
• Pocket Size: Wider pockets.
• Table Size: Between 3.5 x 7ft and 4.5 x 9ft.
• Ball Size: Larger balls.
• Aim: Pot all your coloured balls plus the black before your opponent (eight-ball Pool). Pot the numbered balls in succession, from lowest first, and try to pot the nine ball before your opponent (nine-ball Pool).
