The FA Cup is played over 14 rounds, and Premier League teams enter in the third round proper.   

  Qualifying takes place over the first six rounds, with clubs playing below the English Football League taking part. That includes those in the National League, National League North and National League South. The first round proper follows, with the 48 clubs from League One and League Two joining, before Championship and Premier League sides enter in the third round.
