WWE was first founded in 1952, by Jess McMahon. It was originally named Capitol Wresting Corporation (CWF) and renamed as WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation) in 1963 when it was inherited by his son Vincent J. McMahon.

It became WWF when it was taken over by the third McMahon in line, Vincent K. McMahon (that's Vince to you and me). There was again a name change in 2002 when they lost a lawsuit against the World Wildlife Federation. WWE as we know it was official on 6th May 2002.

Fast forward to now and the most recent event once again saw history in the making with Kofi Kingston becoming the first African-born WWE Champion, winning the Universal Championship. Tampa, Florida will see WrestleMania roll into town for the next event on 5th April 2020.
