In the last seven years, the teams that have won the Championship have amassed 90 or more points. Bournemouth managed exactly 90 in 2014/15 and they have been followed by Burnley (93), Newcastle United (94), Wolves (99), Leeds United (93), and Norwich City twice (94 & 97).

The highest total was achieved by Reading in 2005/06, when they accumulated a remarkable 106 points. West Brom won the title with the fewest number of points in 2007/08, they racked up just 81 points that season. In 2015/16, Burnley broke the second-place record with 93 points in total.

Who has been in The Championship the longest?

Although six teams leave the Championship each season, with three being promoted and three relegated, there are a handful of teams that are stalwarts of the league.

As of 2021, Derby County and Nottingham Forest are the longest serving Championship clubs. The East Midlands rivals have both been in the division since the 2007/08 season. Overall, Barnsley have played in the English second tier more often than any other club (dating back to before it was rebranded as the Championship in 2004).
