When is the Super League Grand Final?
The Super League Grand Final takes place after the culmination of the league phase and the play-offs. In 2021, the game will be played on Saturday 9th October, a couple of weeks after the play-offs conclude.
Old Trafford will return as the host venue for the match this year, after it was moved to Hull in 2020.
Previous Winners of the Super League
St. Helens are the most recent winners of the Super League Grand Final. They won the 2020 title by beating Wigan Warriors 8-4 in a low scoring affair at the KCOM Stadium. It was the Saints' second championship in a row, having also won the 2019 Grand Final.
As of 2021, St.Helens and Leeds Rhinos jointly hold the record for most Super League Grand Final wins, with eight wins each.
Overall, only four different clubs have managed to win the Super League Grand Final, Leeds, St Helens, Wigan, and Bradford Bulls.

History of the Super League Grand Final
The first Super League season took place in 1996. However, in that campaign the champions were the team that finished top of the league table. It was the same scenario in 1997, before things changed in 1998.
In the 1998 season the format switched so that there was a league phase and a play-off series before a championship match which was named the Grand Final.
The very first Grand Final pitted Wigan Warriors against St. Helens at Old Trafford before 43,533 spectators. Wigan emerged victorious winning 10-4.
