Honey Gems is Playtech Origins’ take on the hive of hexagonal grid-based online slots. Played on a 61-cell honeycomb structure, the game has given up traditional paylines for cluster wins and comes with two main bonuses: Sticky Respins and Bonus Spins. The grid isn't busy with just fruit and gems, there's also the Honey Queen, a key figure in both features.
The design is about as literal as it gets: a honeycomb grid filled with gems and cartoonish fruit, all against a blue-sky backdrop. The Honey Queen icon, wild honeycombs, and bouncing animations only add to the setup. It’s not a cinematic experience, but the clarity is functional for what the game’s mechanics demand.
Symbols in Honey Gems form winning clusters of 5 or more, with the highest rewards paid when 45 or more of the same symbol appear touching. Below are the payouts for the highest-tier clusters.

This feature kicks in if a winning cluster lands alongside one or more Wild Multiplier symbols. The Wild and the winning cluster become sticky while all other symbols respin. The respins keep coming as long as additional matching symbols or wilds appear. The Wild Multiplier starts at 2x and increases by 1 with each successful respin. If multiple wilds potentially touch the same winning cluster, their multipliers combine by being multiplied together, not just added.
Triggered by landing 4 or more scatter symbols, this bonus starts with a sticky 2x Wild Multiplier locked in the centre of the grid. Any new multipliers or winning clusters stick in place and work just like in the base game’s Sticky Respins. The difference? These Wilds don’t reset at all for the duration of the bonus spins, allowing multiplier values to keep climbing with every round. Additional bonus spins can also be retriggered one at a time by landing more Scatters.
There are no reels in the traditional sense here. Instead, the game uses a 17-reel layout with varying rows in a 1-2-3-4-5-4-5-4-5-4-5-4-5-4-3-2-1 configuration, forming a hexagonal grid. Symbols fall into these 61 positions, and wins are formed when 5 or more of the same symbol touch each other. There are no cascading wins. Once a winning combination potentially hits (and potentially triggers a Sticky Respin), the round ends unless extended by that feature.

Honey Gems puts some clever mechanics into an otherwise straightforward package. The Sticky Respins do a lot of heavy lifting in terms of engagement, and the decision not to include cascades actually puts more pressure (in a good way) on the appearance of Wilds. The Bonus Spins carries momentum well thanks to persistent multipliers. It may not reinvent anything, but it definitely knows what kind of slot it wants to be.
