Here at BetVictor News, we’ll be following the latest Swansea City stats throughout 2026/27 as Vítor Matos gets his first full Championship campaign in charge.
Last season eventually ended with the Swans 11th on 64 points, although the numbers were remarkably even. Swansea won 18 and lost 18 of their 46 league matches, scoring 57 goals while conceding 59. Mid-table was therefore a fair reflection of a campaign that never really settled into one direction for long.
Things did improve once Matos arrived in November. Swansea won 14 of his 30 Championship games, and their home form became particularly useful during the second half of the season. The Portuguese coach spoke towards the end of the campaign about having established a stronger base, so 2026/27 should offer a better idea of how far that work can go.
Then there was Žan Vipotnik. The Slovenian scored 23 league goals to win the Championship Golden Boot, the best second-tier return by a Swansea player since the competition adopted its current name. He also signed a new deal running until 2030, giving Matos a proven source of goals to build around.
That leaves the bigger question elsewhere. Swansea already know they have a striker capable of deciding games, but turning last year’s balanced win-loss record into something more consistent will be crucial if they want to move beyond mid-table.
Results at the Swansea.com Stadium, defensive numbers and the distance to the top six should give us a useful measure of that progress. You can compare the Swans with clubs across England through our football stats hub, while Championship betting covers the division throughout the campaign.
