Here at BetVictor News, we’ll be following the latest Sheffield United stats throughout 2026/27 as the Blades try to put a chaotic previous campaign firmly behind them.
Few teams had to rescue their season quite as dramatically last year. United lost their opening five Championship games and were bottom when Chris Wilder returned in September, only three months after leaving Bramall Lane. By May, they had worked their way back to 13th with 60 points, winning 18 of their 46 league matches.
Even the final numbers captured how mixed the campaign had been. Sheffield United scored 66 goals and conceded exactly 66, leaving them with a goal difference of zero. Wilder had initially targeted simply getting off the bottom before looking towards mid-table and, eventually, the top six. The first two were achieved, but the late push never quite developed.
Patrick Bamford became an important part of that recovery after arriving during the season. He finished as United’s leading Championship scorer with 12 goals, while Gustavo Hamer supplied a league-high 11 assists. Having both creativity and proven finishing already in the side gives Wilder a much healthier starting point this time around.
The question for 2026/27 is whether the Blades can turn that recovery into something more sustained. After spending much of last season repairing the damage from August and September, their results at Bramall Lane and the gap to the promotion places should provide a better measure of progress.
