The Top 14 season runs from August to June with breaks for international competitions like the Six Nations and European club fixtures like the Champions Cup.

At the end of the regular season, the top 6 teams play quarter-finals, and the lowest placed club is automatically relegated to D2. The quarter-final winners then face the top two seeds in the semi-finals, and then it’s on to the final at the Stade de France. The most successful Top 14 club is Toulouse, who became the French Champions for the 20th time in 2019. Toulouse could be on track to win again in 2021 but La Rochelle, Racing 92 and Clermont are all within touching distance of the trophy this season, and there’s still a long way to go before the final.
