World Grand Prix of Darts Odds & Betting

The 2025 edition of the World Grand Prix promises to be another week of high drama and technical brilliance in one of darts’ most intriguing formats. Held from 6 to 12 October, the tournament returns to the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, staging its 28th edition under the auspices of the PDC.

Format, Prize Money, & Field

What sets the Grand Prix apart is its signature double-in, double-out format: players must hit a double (or bull) to start scoring in each leg, and likewise must finish on a double. Missed attempts before the “double start” yield no score on those throws, which often leads to tactical caution and early errors.

The total prize fund is £600,000, with the champion receiving £120,000.

Thirty-two players qualify: the top 16 from the PDC Order of Merit as seeds, joined by the top 16 players from the Pro Tour Order of Merit who have not already qualified.

Defending Champion & Storylines

The reigning champion, Mike De Decker, returns hoping to defend the title he claimed in 2024, defeating Luke Humphries 6-4 in the final.

But he won’t have it easy. This year’s draw is stacked with marquee clashes from the outset:

  • Luke Littler, the world champion, is drawn against Gian van Veen in the first round.
  • A nostalgic throwback clash: Gary Anderson vs Raymond van Barneveld, two former world champions and old rivals, open the tournament with interest.
  • Michael van Gerwen, a six-time champion at this event, faces Dirk van Duijvenbode in what could be a tense Dutch blockbuster.
  • The top seed, Luke Humphries, meets Nathan Aspinall in his opener.

The full draw and schedule were confirmed in late September, with the tournament broadcast via Sky Sports in the UK and through PDC’s global partners, including DAZN and Viaplay.

Key Matchups & Predictions

A few of the matchups to watch:

  • Littler vs Van Veen: Littler’s rise has been meteoric, and while he starts the World Grand Prix as the man to beat according to darts betting online, the double-in format is notoriously difficult. Van Veen has also shown he can be a threat to anyone on his day.
  • Anderson vs Van Barneveld: History and pride will be on the line more than ever before. Neither is a consistent contender any longer, but in this kind of event, slumps can be reversed.
  • Van Gerwen vs Van Duijvenbode: With Van Gerwen’s pedigree at this event, anything less than a run towards the latter stages would be seen as a disappointment. But Van Duijvenbode’s scoring power could neutralise that advantage.
  • Humphries vs Aspinall: As the top seed, Humphries has expectations to deliver. Aspinall, a big-game player, will push him all the way.

What Will Decide it?

In a format so unforgiving, a few factors may prove decisive:

  • Double consistency under pressure: A player’s ability to find a double quickly at both the start and finish of legs is a huge differentiator.
  • Experience vs momentum: Veterans with experience at this tournament may benefit in tight matches, but rising stars bring momentum and confidence.
  • Draw luck: Because early rounds are shorter and unforgiving, some favourites may be exposed by tricky early tests.
  • Mental composure: The Grand Prix often punishes those who wobble early in a leg, so psychological steadiness is key.

Broadcast, Viewing & Betting

Fans in the UK can view the tournament live on Sky Sports. Globally, coverage will be available via DAZN, Viaplay, and the PDC’s PDCTV platform.

As always, you can get involved with the action by placing bets on matches, outright markets, and in-play, by visiting BetVictor sports betting and heading to the darts category.

What to Watch Out For

  • Can Mike De Decker defend, or will the pressure of being champion prove too much?
  • Will Luke Littler pick up another title?
  • Which veteran or dark horse will rattle the draw and make a surprise run?
  • How many matches will hinge on early missed doubles or pivotal checkouts?
  • Which high-stakes match will produce the showpiece moment?

Conclusion

With compelling first-round matchups, a mix of youth and experience, and a format that uniquely demands precision, the 2025 World Grand Prix is shaping up to be another must-watch event. All eyes will be on Leicester from October 6 to see who can master darts’ most exacting test.
