The early 90s brought a real change in Danish football. The Superliga was formed in 1991, just before the national team led by Peter Schmeichel, John Jensen and Lars Olsen, surprised Europe with the tumultuous shock on the international stage, winning Euro 92.
And with the likes of Brondby, FC Copenhagen, and FC Midtjylland all competing in the major European club competitions, football is thriving in this Scandinavian country, reflected in the range of Danish Superliga betting markets available from us at BetVictor.
Since 2016-17 the Danish Superliga features the top 14 teams from the Danish footballing pyramid.
In the same way as many of the leagues around Europe, the Danish Superliga features a two-stage season. The first is the Regular Season with each team playing the others twice, home and away. After these 26 rounds of fixtures, the competition is split into the Play-offs.
The top six teams go into the Championship Play-off, again playing each other twice to crown the champions and runners up. The former goes into the Champions League Second Qualifying Round and the latter into the First Qualifying Round of the Europa League.
The Relegation or Qualifying Play-off is split into two groups. The top two from each group enter a mini knock-out tournament with a Europa League spot at stake, while third-placed teams play each other over two legs with the winners remaining in the Superliga and the losers facing a play-off against the third-placed team from the division below; the 1st Division.
Finally, the bottom-placed teams play over two legs with the winners entering a play-off against the second-placed team from the 1st Division and the losers being automatically relegated.
Confusing? Maybe. But exciting, nonetheless.
As we do for most leagues around Europe and the rest of the world, our coverage of the Danish Superliga football betting gets the full match odds treatment.
All featured games will see Danish Superliga football odds on Both Teams To Score, Correct Score, Total Goals, Half Time/Full Time, Double Chance and Asian Handicap markets alongside the usual Match Betting.
And with game weeks in Denmark spread over four days, Friday to Monday, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and bet on Danish football.
