As Italy’s top division, Serie A continues to captivate football fans worldwide with its mix of tactical brilliance, fierce rivalries, and passionate fan bases. From perennial title contenders like Inter Milan and Napoli, to the league’s dark horses, the division offers endless drama.

With a new batch of promoted clubs, managerial changes, and transfers in and out of Serie A, the 2025/26 season has already sparked excitement across the board. Whether you’re backing one of the traditional giants in the Serie A winner outright market, or betting match to match, wagering on the Italian top flight is one of the best ways to stay engaged with Italian football.

One of Europe’s Top 5 Leagues

Serie A remains one of the most prestigious competitions in Europe, alongside the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1. The league, made up of 20 teams, with each playing a total of 38 matches, 19 at home and 19 away, between August and May.

At the end of the season, the club with the most points will win the Scudetto. The teams that finish in the top four will typically qualify for the Champions League, while fifth and sixth place open the door to the Europa League and the Europa Conference League, respectively. The bottom three clubs are relegated to Serie B, while three teams from the second tier will replace them.

The Teams to Watch in 2025/26

The race for the Scudetto will be as competitive as ever in 2025/26, with multiple clubs looking to have a strong season.

  • Napoli are the team to beat where the Scudetto is concerned. They won Serie A last season, making it their second title in three years. They’ve looked rejuvenated under Antonio Conte, and the signing of Kevin De Bruyne, even at 34 years old, is a sign of their intent.
  • Inter Milan lost their title to Napoli in 2024/25, finishing one point behind their rivals. Overall, they didn’t have a bad season, finishing second in Serie A and making the Champions League final. While they remain a strong outfit, it’s been all change, with manager Simone Inzaghi departing for Al-Hilal.
  • Juventus finished well off the pace last season, but they’re building towards reaching the summit of Italian football once again. They’ve completed several key transfers already this summer, one being the arrival of winger Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina, making them one to watch.
  • AC Milan last won the Scudetto in 2021/22 and finished runners-up in 2023/24. They’re eager to go from also-rans to champions once again and will certainly be determined to better their 8th-place finish of last season. Again, they’ve also strengthened, with Luka Modric and Samuele Ricci joining.

Promoted Teams and Fresh Faces

The three new teams in Serie B for the 2024/25 season are Sassuolo, Pisa, and Cremonese. Sassuolo won the title, and they return following their relegation at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Pisa are back in Italy’s top flight for the first time since 1991, and Cremonese return after being relegated in 2022/23.

There have been a raft of managerial changes, and therefore plenty of fresh faces, in Serie A between the end of the 2024/25 season and the start of 2025/26. They include changes at Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Parma, AC Milan, Roma, Atalanta, Lazio, Cagliari, Torino, Lecce, Pisa, and Cremonese.

The new appointments are:

  • Stefano Pioli (Fiorentina)
  • Cristian Chivu (Inter Milan)
  • Carlos Cuesta (Parma)
  • Max Allegri (AC Milan)
  • Gian Piero Gasperini (Roma)
  • Ivan Juric (Atalanta)
  • Maurizio Sarri (Lazio)
  • Fabio Pisacane (Cagliari)
  • Marco Baroni (Torino)

  • Top Four Finish – Bet on the teams to secure Champions League football.
  • Relegation Betting – Place wagers on the teams most likely to drop into Serie B.

In-Play Betting – Stay in the Game

Serie A in-play betting adds an extra layer of excitement as matches unfold in real time. Whether you’re reacting to how a game is playing out in general, goals, cards, or tactical tweaks, in-play betting allows you to capitalise on momentum swings.

For example, if Napoli are dominating a match but it’s 0-0 at half-time, backing them to win the second half could offer value. If a defensive outfit like Juventus take an early lead, betting on under 2.5 goals could be wise, due to their often cautious approach.

In-play betting provides odds in real-time that are updated based on what’s happening on the pitch.
