Oldham Athletic are second favourites to win the National League in the betting. The Latics had a nightmare start to their first season in the fifth tier last year and found themselves in a relegation battle. However, they recovered under David Unsworth and finished in 12th after a run of one defeat in their final ten matches. 

Making up the top three favourites in the National League betting are Hartlepool United. Pools are back in the fifth division after a two-year stay in League Two and are looking to bounce back. The 2022/23 National League season gained a worldwide audience, thanks primarily to Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s co-ownership of Wrexham. Fans were treated to a fantastic season, with a red-hot title race and intriguing play-off and relegation battles.

Four teams were relegated from the National League in the 2022/23 season. Maidstone United were the first club to drop into the sixth tier, finishing rock bottom with just 25 points. Scunthorpe United and Yeovil Town were the next two teams to be relegated, leaving one place in the drop zone to be decided on the final day. 

Torquay United were confirmed as the fourth team to suffer relegation. The Gulls could only draw with Wrexham in their last game, which was not enough to overtake Maidenhead United, who lost 4-0 against Gateshead.

Wrexham finished top of the National League table in 2022/23 and were automatically promoted to League Two. The Red Dragons were 6/4 favourites in the National League betting and enjoyed a remarkable season, winning 34 and losing three of their 46 matches, amassing a record-breaking 111 points.   

Notts County were 8/1 second favourites in the National League betting, and they, too, managed to seal promotion. The Magpies were involved in an epic title race with Wrexham, finishing second on 107 points. That meant they had to face the rigours of the play-offs, but they managed to beat Boreham Wood and Chesterfield to win a place in League Two.

Wrexham are the most recent National League winners, having lifted the trophy in 2022/23. 

Stockport County were champions the year before and went onto qualify for the League Two play-offs in their first season, while 2018/19 winners, Leyton Orient, won League Two in 2022/23, showing that promotion from the National League can lead to bigger things.
