Next Luton Manager Odds: Rob Edwards
It’s coming up to a year for Luton Town manager Rob Edwards, having been appointed as manager in November 2022, yet despite his win rate being higher than both Nathan Jones and Graeme Jones who were his predecessors, a bad start to the season has already seen bookies promoting next Luton manager odds to punters all over. So what’s actually gone wrong at Luton or are people just trying to make a mountain from a molehill?
Since the 2017/18 season, Luton have accelerated from League Two all the way to the dizzying heights of the Premier League, but now find themselves sitting in 17th, just above the relegation zone and with just 4 points from 8 games so far. But is it a case that any manager, fighting with a newly promoted team, would still face the same challenges and difficulties as they struggle to compete with a faster-paced and more experienced league?
Could it be argued, that the fact that the Luton manager odds are out at 16/1 with BetVictor, at the time of writing, could be that while punters are certainly thinking about the future, Rob Edwards tenure may not be as compromised as some are stating just yet. Having been appointed on a minimum 3.5 year deal just last November, he has already achieved promotion to the top tier of English Football and has, while solely on goal difference, escaped them from the relegation zone for now. Hopefully CEO Gary Sweet and the board will have taken time over the International break, to recognise that their high-regard for a manager who has secured them Premier League football should, at the least, buy some good will and time to settle into a new era of football for the club and its’ fans.
