Next Burnley Manager Odds: Vincent Kompany
It’s been nearly a year and a half since Burnley appointed Vincent Kompany as their manager, but despite a convincing win in the EFL Cup third-round, a few big defeats from Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City, where manager Vincent Kompany earned his stripes, has started the rumour mill whirring as to whether Kompany will be replaced. At the time of writing, BetVictor have Kompany at 14/1 on next manager to be sacked odds and, while more prominent names like Iraola and Ten Hag are shorter odds, that hasn’t stopped the news from spreading. So is there any truth to the discontent or are people just stirring the pot?
When Sean Dyche was sacked back in April 2022, despite guiding the club through two promotions and seventh-placed finish, Vincent was chosen even though he was a clearly less than experienced alternative. Despite being demoted to the Championship, within a year they found themselves back in the Premier League but are now struggling to get out the relegation zone, where they currently find themselves with just 4 points from 8 games. Perhaps it’s a little too early to be discussing the next Burnley manager odds, but chasing a 7th placed finish that was last seen in 2017/18 seems to be an aspiration that won’t move from the board’s mind, even if the next few seasons they just about scraped by to stay in the league. Could this be their undoing or will they show restraint where many other clubs have failed to do so?
It seems likely that with upcoming games against fellow bottom-half of the table teams like Bournemouth and Brentford, the Clarets board will try and hold fire until they see whether their seasons lull can be reversed, before meeting Everton on the 1st November in a EFL Cup Round of 16 showdown. But if their poor run of form in the Premier League continues, we expect that the Burnley next manager odds will be lighting up as Kompany comes to the end of his tenure at a club that seeks to cement their position in the Premier League for years to come.
