What Are The Lowest Winning US Masters Scores?

Will Anyone Topple The Likes Of Woods, Nicklaus, Johnson Or Spieth?

US Masters | Augusta National, Georgia | April 9-12, 2026

To enter the list of the lowest winning US Masters scores not only demonstrates a player’s skill, cunning and golfing capability, it has the potential to immediately catapult them into Augusta legend. And rightly so, too.

A number of the greatest ever stars to pick up a club have all earned their place in the lowest winning US Masters scores list. But who actually comes out on top? BetVictor News takes a closer look.

Lowest Winning US Masters Scores

In 2020, Dustin Johnson completely defied the US Masters odds by not only cruising to victory, but setting a new record for the lowest US Masters winning score. Johnson fired home a final-round 68 to finish on 268 (-20). However, some still doubt his achievement as the tournament was played in November due to COVID.

Nonetheless, Johnson broke the former record of 270 (-18) set by Tiger Woods in 1997. Jordan Spieth did equal the record set by Woods in 2015 but it is Johnson who is the clear leader. In terms of the biggest winning margins at the Masters, that honour still belongs to Woods.

Unsurprisingly, that achievement was accomplished during his stunning victory in 1997 whereby he finished a full 12 strokes ahead of ahead of runner-up Tom Kite. Woods will not be participating in the 2026 edition but he, alongside the likes of Johnson and Spieth, have earned their place in Masters folklore.

And that is not forgetting arguably the greatest golfer of all-time. Jack Nicklaus – who sits top in the US Masters winners list with six victories to his name – romped to glory in 1965 when he fired home 271. Which at the time, was a US Masters record.

  • 268 — Dustin Johnson (2020) -20
  • 270 — Tiger Woods (1997) -18
  • 270 — Jordan Spieth (2015) – 18
  • 271 — Jack Nicklaus (1965) -17
  • 271 — Raymond Floyd (1976) – 17
  • 272 — Tiger Woods (2001) -16
  • 272 — Phil Mickelson (2010) -16
  • 273 — Patrick Reed (2018) -15
  • 274 — Ben Hogan (1953) -14
  • 274 — Ben Crenshaw (1995) -14
  • 274 — Charl Schwartzel (2011) – 14

Who Is The Favourite To Win The 2026 US Masters?

Although Dustin Johnson’s record will be extremely difficult to beat, 2026 US Masters favourite Scottie Scheffler is arguably the man who could come closest. The current world number one is looking for his third victory at Augusta and can be backed at a boosted price of 13/2 (was 6/1).

Defending champions Rory McIlroy is currently 14/1 alongside Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau. Ludvig Aberg is available at 18/1 with Englishmen Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood 22’s.
