Maybe not one that will capture the attention of the masses, but an important one for Portugal and to see who might place 2nd, the ‘Jvarosnebi’ will take on the ‘Lokomotiva’ for the first time in their history. While Georgia have qualified for the Euros for the first time and needed the playoffs to make it through to the Group stages – being beaten by Spain 7-1 in the process, Czechia (otherwise knows as Czech Republic) were quarter finalists in 2012 and again in 2020, so are likely to be favourites when it comes to this showdown. So who do the bookies think will come out on top at the end of the 90 minute game and what are the latest odds on Georgia vs Czechia.
The latest Euro 2024 betting odds, according to BetVictor at the time of writing, have Georgia at 17/5*, with a £10 bet paying £44, while Czechia are favourites at 3/4*, where the same £10 wager would return just £17.50 if they are ahead at the final whistle. For punters wishing to make a bet on the final result being a draw, the odds are currently 5/2*, so the same £10 staked would pay out £35. Given that Czechia are 36th in the FIFA World standings, whilst Georgia are much further down the pecking order at 75th, it stands to reason that between that and their recent Euros performances, the bookies favour the Czech side to secure all the points on the 22nd June.
With Georgia’s coach, Willy Sagnol, looking to place his trust in the country’s most capped player, Guram Kashia, to get the best out of top strikers Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze, Czechia’s own head coach, Ivan Hašek, will turn to Tomáš Souček, alongside midfielder Antonín Barák and in-form striker Patrik Schick, to do their best to show just why they are favourites at the bookmakers when the two teams go up against each other. While both sides will want to do well, it’s a fairly easy prediction we feel, that Czechia will take all the points on the day albeit in what could well be a rather low-scoring game.
