Harry Redknapp’s Premier League Preview And Predictions For Matchday 36

Saturday May 9

 Liverpool 3-1 Chelsea

A big game to start us off this weekend. Liverpool had decent moments at Old Trafford last week but they’ve just been nowhere near good enough in the big games this season. It’s going to be an interesting summer at Anfield, I expect a lot of ins and outs.

Chelsea just confuse me. I couldn’t believe what I was watching against what was essentially Forest’s reserves. Those fans aren’t happy and I don’t blame them one bit.

It’s got to be Liverpool.

One to watch – Szoboszlai has been Liverpool’s best player by a mile this season.

Fulham 1-2 Bournemouth

Fulham didn’t really turn up at the Emirates last week, I was surprised. They’ve still got an outside chance of Europe, but they’ll have to win every game.

Bournemouth are just on fire at the minute and have a great chance now of getting that Europa League spot. They might even sneak in the top 5 at this rate!

Bournemouth, 2-1.

One to watch – I do like Rayan; he looks like yet another amazing find for Bournemouth.

Sunderland 1-1 Man Utd

Sunderland have had such a fantastic first season back. In fact, they’ve probably not quite got the credit they deserve.

What a win that was for Man United last week and for Michael Carrick. This job could be his on a long-term basis, who knows!

Sunderland, for the most part, have been very hard to beat at home this season. 1-1.

One to watch – It’s good to see Mainoo looking back to his best and that could mean he’s back in the England squad!

Brighton 2-0 Wolves

I didn’t really see Brighton losing at Newcastle, that was a surprise. It’s all so tight in that race for Europe though, a win here and they’ll be right back in it.

There’s not much to say about Wolves now, but they did hold Sunderland to a draw last week!

2-0 to Brighton.

One to watch – Welbeck is still the joint-top scoring English player in the league, he might be sole leader after this one.

Man City 2-1 Brentford

I couldn’t believe what I was watching from City at Everton. Some of that defending and some of those goals were just so poor. I don’t see Arsenal slipping up now, but City have to win this and hope for the best.

For Brentford to have 51 points is an amazing effort from those players and of course, from Keith Andrews. Not many predicted that at the start of the season.

Brentford will give City a game and could cause a real threat from set-pieces and those long throws! Still, I’m picking City.

One to watch – City might have dropped points, but Doku was unbelievable against Everton!

Sunday May 10

Forest 1-1 Newcastle

I’ll be honest, I thought Forest were very disappointing against Villa. Villa played well but Forest made it so easy for them, they badly missed Morgan Gibbs-White.

Newcastle and Eddie really needed that win last week. The owners have come out and publicly backed him, that’s nice to see but in modern football, who knows how much that actually means!

I’m leaning towards the draw.

One to watch – Elliot Anderson going against his boyhood club here, he could run the show from midfield.

Palace 1-1 Everton

Palace in a European final, who’d have thought that a few years ago! That was a very efficient performance over those two legs against quite a dangerous Shakhtar Donetsk.

I know Moyes and those Everton fans were gutted to not get all three points but what a great effort that was against City.

I’m leaning towards the draw, I don’t see much at all between these two.

One to watch – I love watching Ndiaye, he’s a classy, classy player and someone that some big clubs might take a look at.

Burnley 0-1 Aston Villa

Burnley just want the season to end now. It’s been another underwhelming return to the Premier League.

How good were Villa against Forest! I thought some of the football was excellent and truth be told, it could have been more. Buendia, McGinn, Watkins, these guys were excellent.

It has to be Villa.

One to watch – A fully fit John McGinn makes a huge difference to Villa, as we saw in the Europa.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

A massive, massive game for both. For the Hammers, that poor result at Brentford piles the pressure on here. It almost feels like a must-win, particularly with Spurs having picked up under De Zerbi.

I think this will be Arsenal’s last big test. Win this, and that could well be that in terms of the title. It’s shaping up to be an incredible end to the season for them.

This is bound to be nervy and bound to be dramatic. I have to favour Arsenal, 2-1.

One to watch – He was the hero against Atletico and Saka could be the difference here.

Monday May 11

Spurs 2-0 Leeds

All of a sudden, a win here and Spurs will be in a really good position in terms of safety. De Zerbi deserves credit for injecting a bit of belief into these players. They can’t get complacent though, particularly if West Ham get a good result against Arsenal.

That’s Leeds all but safe now and Farke deserves lots of credit. I know a lot of people expected them to struggle this season and they didn’t make the best of starts.

Leeds have nothing to lose so they’ll go out to try and win this. Still, those Spurs fans will be buoyant and that could be the difference. 2-0.

One to watch – Richarlison got a goal last week and I just think he’s the sort of lad that can deliver in these big games. He’s a real character.
