Harry Redknapp’s Premier League Preview And Predictions For Matchday 37
Friday May 15
Villa 2-2 Liverpool
An interesting one to start with. Villa haven’t looked at their best in the league of late, they’ve been prioritising Europe. They’ve been alright going forward, they’ve just been conceding too many at the back.
It’s a similar story for Liverpool, too many sloppy goals have cost them recently and to be honest, all season. It’s going to be a huge summer for them, there’s going to be a lot of ins and outs at Anfield.
I just don’t trust either side to keep a clean sheet. I’m saying 2-2.
One to watch – Ollie Watkins has found his shooting boots and in good time, he might find himself on that plane to America.
Sunday May 17
Man Utd 2-1 Forest
United’s goalless draw at Sunderland won’t live long in the memory! I’m really curious to see what happens at Old Trafford, will Michael Carrick be given the job?
That’s Forest now officially safe and boy will they breathe a big sigh of relief. It’s been a crazy season for them and definitely a memorable one that’s for sure!
United, 2-1.
One to watch – It’s got to be Bruno Fernandes with this being a good chance to break that assist record.
Brentford 1-0 Palace
Brentford’s season is petering out a touch and it looks like they’ll just miss out on Europe. What a first season at the helm for Keith Andrews though!
Palace are clearly prioritising the Conference League and you can’t exactly blame them. I’m not sure what lineup we’ll see from them here.
I don’t see a classic, 1-0 to Brentford.
One to watch – Igor Thiago’s been a revelation this season and looks like he’ll be off to America with Brazil, what a story!
Leeds 1-1 Brighton
You saw how hard to beat Leeds are against Spurs on Monday. Daniel Farke’s turned them into such an organised side, it’s been a fantastic first season back for them.
Brighton are still pushing for a European spot and have had a brilliant last month or so. To think, they had a very difficult period this season and without that, they might have been in the top four hunt.
I’m leaning towards the draw.
One to watch – I’m so impressed by Ampadu almost every time I watch the lad. He’s a vital player for Leeds and leads his side superbly.
Wolves 0-1 Fulham
Three’s not too much to say about Wolves now!
Fulham are another side that look like they’re on the beach. The big talking point for them will be the future of Marco Silva, he could be such a big act to follow.
I think Fulham will get the win but don’t expect a classic here.
One to watch – Harry Wilson’s future is also up in the air, and it seems like he might be off. I do like watching this lad, he never scores a bad goal!
Everton 1-0 Sunderland
Everton still have a very small chance of Europe, but their recent form hasn’t been great. Still, there’s plenty of positives in their fist season at the new stadium.
I don’t think any Sunderland fan in their wildest dreams could have seen them get 48 points this season. I think people forget, they went up in the play-offs last year and were miles behind Burnley in the league. It just shows how important the recruitment is when you get promoted.
Another low-scoring game, 1-0.
One to watch – Ndiaye is a real favourite of mine and someone that a few big clubs might just be having a look at.
Newcastle 0-1 West Ham
Eddie’s been assured of his job and its now going to be a massive summer for the club. Let’s face it, they didn’t get the recruitment right last year and they need to rectify it. The big worry would be, it looks like a few of their top players might be off as well.
West Ham battled and fought against Arsenal, and I just think they were very unlucky to see that goal ruled out at the end. It felt like a fatal blow to them, but Spurs could only draw and now, it feels like West Ham have a second life.
It’s a big if, but if West Ham can get the win here, boy would that put pressure on Spurs. I’m going for a 1-0 win for the Hammers but that’s probably my heart ruling that one. I wish they could both stay up!
One to watch – Could Bowen inspire a massive three points for his side? I wouldn’t be shocked.
Monday May 18
Arsenal 3-0 Burnley
That was a dramatic win for Arsenal last week and it just feels like they can’t throw the league away from here. I’d be astonished if they don’t win this game. We’ve seen a lot of big upsets in the Premier league over the years, but this might top the lot if Burnley were to go and get something here. 3-0 to Arsenal.
One to watch – Odegaard added that little bit of class and composure last week and Arsenal’s skipper could do more of the same here.
FA Cup Final – Saturday May 16
Chelsea 1-3 Man City
The big one, the FA Cup final! I know some people talk about it losing its magic, but it still means so much to me and I can’t wait for this. Chelsea are a strange side at times; they get beaten heavily at home to Forest but then go and get a point at Anfield. I’m not sure what we’ll see from them here!
As for City, Pep will be desperate to get another trophy this season, particularly if it ends up being his last at the club. I think City will be very up for this.
Chelsea might nick a goal but I think City are on a different level. 3-1.
One to watch – Unbelievably, Haaland has never scored at Wembley! That could very well change here and don’t be surprised if he does get one, he might get two or three.
