Harry Redknapp’s Premier League Preview And Predictions For Matchday 38

Sunday May 24

Man City 3-0 Villa

Well, it seems like Pep will be off, what a loss that will be to English football. Pep’s one of the all-time greats, talk about a big act to follow. It says it all that is seen as a transitional season, they’ve won two cups!

I’m not sure many of these Villa players will have had much sleep before this game! I thought they were superb in that Europa final, some of those goals were fantastic.
City to end Pep’s tenure in style, 3-0.

One to watch – This will be Bernardo Silva’s last game and what an amazing servant he’s been, a brilliant player.

Brighton 2-1 Man Utd

Brighton still have an outside chance of getting in the Champions League, they’ll be up for this one! Regardless of what happens, it’s been a very good season for them, and they’ve probably not got enough credit.

As for United, Carrick’s got the job done on a permanent basis and I wish him all the best. Michael’s done a great job but it’s going to be a big summer ahead for them.
I think Brighton edge this.

One to watch – Welbeck always seems to score against United, always!

Fulham 1-2 Newcastle

The future of Marco Silva is still up in the air; there’s rumours he might be off to Benfica. Whatever happens, he’s done a fantastic job at Fulham and firmly established them back in the Premier League.

Newcastle are ending the season on decent form but it’s going to be a very busy summer ahead with a lot of ins and outs.
I think Newcastle will narrowly win this.

One to watch – It looks like Anthony Gordon won’t be a Newcastle player next season. I’m a big fan of the lad so I can see why some big clubs are looking at him.

Spurs 1-0 Everton

Here we go, I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch this, I wish Spurs and West Ham could both stay up! I just think Spurs will do just enough; there has been some slight improvement since De Zerbi joined the club.

Everton aren’t in great form, but it’s been a good season for them. I’m curious to see what business they do in the summer, will Grealish join on a permanent basis?
I’m picking Spurs but truth be told, who knows? One things’ for certain, this will be very, very nervy!

One to watch – I’m a big fan of James Maddison and it’s great to see him finally back on the pitch. He’s not quite ready to start a game but he makes a big difference from the bench, they’ve really missed his quality and composure.

Liverpool 2-1 Brentford

Another interesting one, the last game at Anfield for a couple of Liverpool legends. It looks like Liverpool will just about sneak into the Champions League but it’s been quite a poor season from them.

Brentford have been a revelation, what a job Keith Andrews has done. I’ll be honest, I really worried about them but they’ve been superb, and they still might get a European spot.
I think Liverpool win and who knows, it might be a Mo Salah winner.

One to watch – It has to be Salah doesn’t it. Can he end it in style?

Burnley 2-2 Wolves

What we can say about this one? I wish both teams well next season in the Championship, I think both will be right up near the top of the table. We actually might see a decent game here just because there’s absolutely no pressure on either side.

One to watch – Flemming’s been a bit of a handful for Burnley and I think a few sides will be looking at him

Forest 1-2 Bournemouth

Forest have had a very strange season but they’ve stayed up and can look for a more a settled situation next season. Whether that will happen is a different story!
As for Bournemouth, I’ve run out of superlatives for this side and the job the gaffer’s done.

A win here and they might well get a Champions League spot. Imagine that, Bournemouth in the Champions League… unbelievable!
I’ve got to pick Bournemouth here don’t I?

One to watch – I’m impressed by Kroupi virtually every time I watch the lad.

West Ham 1-0 Leeds

I’ll be honest, I thought West Ham were terrible away at Newcastle last week. Despite that, they’re still alive and they just have to take care of their business and hope.
Leeds have been brilliant since January and deserve lots of plaudits. This is a well-coached, good side.

I think West Ham win this, but I don’t think it will be enough. If they can get an early lead though, it could get very nervy at Spurs…

One to watch – Will this be Bowen’s last game in a West Ham shirt? Only time will tell.

Sunderland 1-0 Chelsea

51 points for Sunderland, what an effort. They’ve really surprised everyone and in a way, this will be a very hard act to follow next season!
Xabi Alonso’s now at the helm for Chelsea, what an appointment that could be.

He’s obviously very well regarded and was amazing in Germany but Chelsea just seems like such a tough place to manage right now. Plenty of managers have come in and none have really managed to sort it out. Let’s see how he gets on. I think Sunderland win, just.

One to watch – I’m sure Enzo Fernandez’s future will be a big talking point this summer, particularly if he has a good World Cup.

Palace 1-2 Arsenal

Both teams obviously have European finals coming up, who knows what teams we’ll see here! I’m still quite surprised Glasner is leaving. I’m curious where he ends up, and who Palace manage to get in to replace him.

Finally Arsenal have ended that long, long wait. I don’t think you can grudge them that title, they’ve been so close for a few seasons now.

I think Arsenal win but this is so hard to predict because we’ll see a lot of fringe players here. Still, it’s a chance for some of them to impress and try and be involved in those finals!
