The 2024 Grand National is ready, where we have 34 horses fighting for the trophy. Corach Rambler is liked most to repeat his 2023 victory and if he does, this horse can make history as only second horse after Red Rum, who won it two times in a row at Aintree; Tiger Roll was first one achieving these records during years of 2018 and 2019.
Moreover, there are many other narratives to anticipate. Harry Redknapp’s horse and the 2022 victor both appear on the list of runners!
In this post, BetVictor looks at all the viewing details for the 2024 Grand National, alongside some changes to this year’s event. We also share three different betting tips for the race.

What’s Changed About The 2024 Grand National?
A special point to know about the Grand National in 2024 is that, compared with previous years, the field of runners this time has been decreased from 40 to 34. This alteration does not take away from making it enjoyable for people watching; nevertheless, small reduction in the field can assist in maintaining safety for horses and their riders.
Other changes for this year include:
- The first fence has been moved 60 yards closer to the start of the course, leading to a reduced speed at the start of the race.
- Horses will begin the race with a standing start.
- The race’s time has been changed from 5:15 pm GMT to 4:00 pm GMT for the course to be in top condition.
- Aintree has also made other improvements, and one of them is related to decreasing Fence 11’s height.
- The minimum handicap for entrants has been raised to 130.
- Additional pre-race veterinary procedures have been added to ensure that horses are capable and ready to race.
Grand National Tips
Now that we’ve covered all areas of the Grand National, it’s time to share three betting tips for the main event!
Bet 1: Corach Rambler To Win
The 2024 version of the Grand National will get underway with Corach Rambler in the limelight. Corach Rambler didn’t struggle at all in last year’s race and has managed to hold their form since. Recent outings include a third-place finish in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and two successive triumphs at the start of 2023.
Lucinda Russell will still be putting in the work to ensure that Corach Rambler is in their finest form for the Grand National. However, a repeat of last year puts the 10-year-old in a prime position to repeat a feat achieved most recently by Tiger Roll.
Bet 2: I Am Maximus To Win
If Corach Rambler and Lucinda Russell don’t manage to get the job done at Aintree, I Am Maximus is another strong horse that has attracted plenty of attention. Arguably, the main reason for this is the trainer, W P Mullins, who had a stellar Cheltenham Festival.
Another thing worth mentioning is that I Am Maximus is in strong form. Upon entering the Grand National, he’s coming off a win at Fairyhouse in February. He went off at evens and won it rather convincingly. Interestingly, the horse that came second in this race, Vanillier, is also an entrance in this year’s Grand National.
Bet 3: Noble Yeats Each Way
While we’ve looked at Shakem Up’arry extensively in some of our other Grand National betting posts, Noble Yeats is another horse that has seemingly flown under the radar with punters.
This horse has proved that he can handle the length and jumps in the Grand National after winning it in 2022 at 50/1. Noble Yeats has also raced twice in 2024 already, securing a win at Cheltenham in late January. The other race wasn’t so impressive, finishing 7th in a race that featured 12 runners.
For those who are looking at Noble Yeats, an each-way bet would be our pick. We think the odds for this horse are incredibly fair, all things considered.
