Dan Hooker vs Salahdine Parnasse
This is the fight that should tell us whether the hype around Parnasse was justified.
The Frenchman arrives after an outstanding spell with KSW, where he became champion at both featherweight and lightweight. Rather than being eased into UFC life against an unranked opponent, he has been handed Dan Hooker straight away.
That says plenty about how highly the UFC rates him.
Hooker is ranked inside the lightweight top 10 and has been with the promotion since 2014. Over that time, he has faced Islam Makhachev, Dustin Poirier, Arman Tsarukyan, Mateusz Gamrot and Arnold Allen, among many others.
Parnasse has championship experience of his own, but competing in KSW and walking into a five-round UFC main event against Hooker are not quite the same thing.
If he wins convincingly in Paris, the rankings should follow quickly.
Who Is Salahdine Parnasse?
Parnasse is not a typical UFC debutant.
The 28-year-old built his reputation in KSW, becoming one of the promotion’s biggest stars and winning titles in two weight classes.
His professional record stands at 23-2, and his wins have come through a mixture of knockouts, submissions and decisions.
That balance is one of the reasons he has attracted so much attention.
Parnasse is comfortable striking at range, can grapple when needed and has already fought over championship distances. The biggest question is simply whether he can reproduce that level against UFC opposition.
Hooker should give us a good answer.
Can Dan Hooker Spoil Parnasse’s UFC Debut?
Absolutely. Hooker’s record becomes much more understandable when you look at the level of opposition he has faced.
He has spent years competing against elite lightweights and has built his reputation around making fights difficult, particularly when opponents expect to control the pace.
The concern is recent form.
Hooker is 36 and enters UFC Paris after stoppage defeats to Arman Tsarukyan and Benoît Saint Denis. Parnasse is eight years younger and arrives with considerably fewer miles on the clock.
That does not make Hooker an easy opponent.
His UFC experience, size and willingness to turn fights into uncomfortable battles make him exactly the sort of test Parnasse needs before anyone starts talking seriously about a title run.

Michael ‘Venom’ Page gives UK fans another major reason to watch the main card.
The British striker faces Nursulton Ruziboev at middleweight after winning four of his first five UFC appearances.
Page’s movement and unorthodox striking remain difficult to prepare for, while Ruziboev presents a very different threat with his size and submission ability.
There is added importance because Paris is the final bout on Page’s current UFC contract. He has already spoken about wanting to remain with the promotion, so another strong performance would put him in a good position when those talks begin.

Other Fighters to Watch at UFC Paris
Farès Ziam faces Axel Sola in an all-French lightweight fight directly beneath the main event.
Morgan Charriere should also receive one of the loudest reactions of the evening when he meets Felipe Lima at featherweight, while Losene Keita takes on Muhammad Naimov.
Further down the card, Nathaniel Wood provides another British interest against Mairon Santos.
There are no title fights in Paris, but plenty of fighters are competing for ranking positions and bigger opportunities.

Hooker vs Parnasse Prediction
My pick is Salahdine Parnasse to win.
There is always some uncertainty when a highly rated fighter arrives from another promotion, especially when his first UFC opponent has Hooker’s level of experience.
Parnasse, however, looks to have several advantages.
He is younger, has taken considerably less punishment and can compete comfortably in several areas. That should make it difficult for Hooker to dictate the type of fight.
Hooker is dangerous enough to make the opening rounds competitive, particularly if he can pressure Parnasse and turn the fight into something scrappy.
Over five rounds, though, I expect Parnasse’s speed and variety to make the difference.
Prediction: Salahdine Parnasse to win by decision.
Is UFC Paris 2026 Worth Watching?
Yes. Parnasse’s UFC debut has been years in the making, and Hooker is exactly the sort of opponent who should tell us how close the Frenchman is to the top of the lightweight division.
Michael Page adds a strong British angle, while Ziam, Charriere, Keita and Wood give the card plenty of depth. Then there is the timing.
The prelims begin at 5pm BST and the main card starts at 8pm.
No alarm clock. No 4am main event. No Sunday morning wondering why you thought staying awake for six hours was a sensible idea.
For once, UK UFC fans have been given a good one.
