The most recent UFC event took place in Sacramento on Saturday 22 August, where Gregory Rodrigues defeated Anthony Hernandez by unanimous decision after five gruelling rounds in the middleweight main event.
It was far from the only result worth talking about. Vitor Petrino claimed a clear decision over Serghei Spivac, Reinier de Ridder stopped Roman Dolidze inside the opening round and MarQuel Mederos handed Welsh lightweight Mason Jones a second-round TKO defeat.

Latest UFC Results: UFC Sacramento
UFC Fight Night: Hernandez vs Rodrigues took place at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, on Saturday 22 August.
Anthony Hernandez arrived as the higher-ranked middleweight, but Gregory Rodrigues produced arguably the biggest win of his UFC career.
Rodrigues landed the more damaging work across the five rounds and repeatedly punished Hernandez on the feet. Hernandez still found periods of success with his pressure and wrestling, but the Brazilian did enough to take a unanimous decision.
The judges scored the fight 49-46, 48-47 and 48-47 for Rodrigues. ESPN recorded three knockdowns for the Brazilian across the contest, alongside a sizeable advantage in significant strikes.
Rodrigues moves to 20-6 and suddenly finds himself right in the middle of the conversation at 185lb.

UFC Sacramento Preliminary Results
The prelims were even more chaotic.
Only one of the seven preliminary fights needed the judges, with knockouts coming thick and fast throughout the opening portion of the card.

Padilla left things particularly late.
His arm-triangle submission of Haqparast was officially recorded at 4:59 of the third round. One more second and the fight was heading to the scorecards.
Who Won Hernandez vs Rodrigues?
Gregory Rodrigues beat Anthony Hernandez by unanimous decision.
All three judges gave the Brazilian the fight, although two had it only one round apart.
There was a clear contrast in how each man tried to win it. Hernandez kept forcing grappling exchanges and attempted 29 takedowns according to ESPN’s fight statistics. Only three were completed. Rodrigues, meanwhile, found far more success with the damaging strikes, recording three knockdowns.
That was ultimately the difference.
Hernandez’s pace usually suffocates opponents. Rodrigues survived it, kept landing and still had enough left to fight through the fifth round.
He has now won four consecutive UFC fights and moves considerably closer to the leading names in the middleweight division.
What Happened to Mason Jones at UFC Sacramento?
It was a frustrating night for British MMA.
Welsh lightweight Mason Jones was stopped by MarQuel Mederos at 2:07 of the second round.
Jones had started to find his rhythm, but Mederos changed the fight with a heavy right hand before piling on further strikes until the referee intervened.
The defeat takes Jones to 18-3 with one no contest, while Mederos improves to 12-1-1 and continues an impressive run of his own.
Britain did get a result further down the card through Shanelle Dyer. The London fighter stopped Elise Reed in the third round to move to 8-1.

Previous UFC Results: UFC 330
One week before Sacramento, UFC 330 produced one of the biggest fights of the year.
Islam Makhachev defended the UFC welterweight championship against Ian Machado Garry in Philadelphia on 15 August.
Garry pushed the champion closer than plenty expected, but Makhachev still left with the belt after winning a unanimous decision.
Two judges scored it 49-46, while the third returned a much tighter 48-47 card.

Makhachev’s victory was particularly significant.
It became his 17th consecutive UFC win, moving him beyond Anderson Silva’s previous benchmark of 16 straight victories.

Gregory Rodrigues def. Anthony Hernandez via unanimous decision
Rodrigues produced the biggest victory of his career to halt Hernandez’s latest push towards the top of the middleweight division.
15 August: UFC 330
Islam Makhachev def. Ian Machado Garry via unanimous decision
The welterweight champion retained his title and extended his UFC winning streak to a record-breaking 17.
8 August: UFC Fight Night: Gamrot vs Salkilld
Quillan Salkilld def. Mateusz Gamrot via submission, Round 1, 4:25
This one produced a sizeable result in the lightweight division.
Salkilld submitted the No. 8-ranked Gamrot late in the opening round, while Diego Ferreira, Yadier del Valle and Alexia Thainara were among the other main-card winners in Las Vegas.
1 August: UFC Belgrade
Uroš Medić def. Daniel Rodriguez via KO, Round 1, 0:30
Medić barely gave his home crowd enough time to sit down.
Thirty seconds were all he needed to stop Daniel Rodriguez in Serbia, extending a run in which he has become increasingly difficult to ignore at welterweight. The UFC later confirmed that the Belgrade card produced 12 finishes, including 10 in the opening round.
For anyone who missed August, it has not exactly been a quiet month.
How Are UFC Results Decided?
Not every UFC result comes from a knockout.
A fight can end by knockout, technical knockout, submission, decision, disqualification or, in rarer circumstances, a draw or no contest.
If neither fighter earns a finish before the final horn, three judges score the bout round by round.
Most standard UFC fights last three rounds, while main events and championship fights are normally scheduled for five. Judges use MMA’s 10-point must system, with the winner of a round generally receiving 10 points and the loser nine or fewer.
That is why you will see results such as 30-27 in a three-round contest or 49-46 after a five-round fight.
The scoring itself is more complicated than simply counting punches. Effective striking and grappling are the primary criteria, which means damage, submission threats and meaningful offensive work matter heavily.
That becomes important when you look back at Hernandez vs Rodrigues.
Hernandez had considerably more control time and kept attempting takedowns, but Rodrigues landed the more damaging offence. The scorecards ultimately reflected it.
What Does UD, SD and MD Mean in UFC Results?
Three abbreviations appear regularly beside UFC decisions.
- UD means unanimous decision. All three judges picked the same winner.
- SD means split decision. Two judges backed one fighter and the remaining judge scored it for the other.
- MD means majority decision. Two judges picked the same winner while the third scored the contest a draw.
A unanimous decision does not necessarily mean the fight itself was one-sided.
Rodrigues vs Hernandez is a perfect example. Rodrigues won unanimously, yet two judges had the main event 48-47. One round changing hands on either card would have made things considerably more complicated.

When Is the Next UFC Event?
The UFC heads to China next.
UFC Shanghai: Umar Nurmagomedov vs Song Yadong takes place on Saturday 29 August 2026 at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai.
Nurmagomedov, currently ranked No. 3 at bantamweight on the UFC’s event listing, faces China’s Song Yadong in a five-round main event. Yan Xiaonan takes on Denise Gomes in the co-main event.
Unlike many American UFC cards, the Shanghai timing should be much friendlier for UK viewers.
The official UFC event listing currently schedules the main card for 6am ET, which converts to 11am BST, with the prelims beginning earlier in the morning.
