NFL Week 13 Betting Tips and Predictions: Thanksgiving Edition

nfl week 13

For sports fans, Thanksgiving week is special for a variety of reasons, one of which is an abundance of football games. Thursday and Sunday are packed with plenty of NFL action, with single games kicking off on Friday and Monday, too. While it’s a week of fun for many across Canada and the United States, it’s important that NFL players don’t lose their focus, as so many divisions still hang in the balance!

We share our betting tips and NFL predictions for week 13, focusing on seven of the biggest games, including the Detroit Lions vs the Chicago Bears. We also look at the Dallas Cowboys vs the New York Giants, The Green Bay Packers vs the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots vs the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Jets vs the Seattle Seahawks, the Buffalo Bills vs the Philadelphia 69ers, and finally, the Denver Broncos vs the Cleveland Browns!

Game 1: Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions

  • Date: Thursday 28th November 2024
  • Time: 12:30 pm EDT

For the opening game of Thanksgiving NFL action, we’ve put together a special parlay that comes with enhanced odds of 5 to 1. It features three selections, which are the Detroit Lions point spread -10.5, Jared Goff over 245.5 passing yards, and the match to have over 50.5 total points.

The Detroit Lions have found huge success this season, currently leading the NFC North with only 1 loss to their name. Much of this can be attributed to the incredible weekly performances of Jared Goff, who contributed 269 and 412 passing yards in their two previous victories against the Colts and the Jaguars, respectively. Our same game parlay revolves around both of these factors!

Game 2: New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys

  • Date: Thursday 28th November 2024
  • Time: 3:30 pm EDT

The next encounter for Thanksgiving involves two teams that have struggled to find their form this season as the Giants head to Dallas to face off against the Cowboys. This is arguably a much tougher game for the travelling team, as they currently sit on a six-loss streak, which is likely something the Dallas crowd will regularly be reminding them of.

Cooper Rush could be instrumental in this one, so look for him to register passing yards while also keeping his completion percentage above his career average of 60.8. He did this seamlessly against the Commanders and with momentum in their favor, we think the Cowboys cover the -3.5 point spread in a comfortable fashion.

Game 3: Miami Dolphins @ Green Bay Packers

  • Date: Thursday 28th November 2024
  • Time: 8:20 pm EDT

The final game that we will be covering on Thanksgiving is the Green Bay Packers vs the Miami Dolphins, who are on win streaks of 2 and 3, respectively. While Tua Tagovailoa will be eager to keep the Dolphins rolling to extend their unbeaten run, the Packers have been defensively sound this season, conceding fewer points than most other teams in a similar position.

It’s likely that this encounter will be one heavily based on strategy and could easily be won based on the tactics implemented by Matt LaFleur or Mike McDaniel. We expect the Green Bay Packers to find success by remaining sturdy at the back while looking for the reliable Jordan Love to build the foundations of a dangerous offense. For anyone who enjoys watching NFL games that have a focus on strategy, this could be one to savor!

Game 4: Indianapolis Colts @ New England Patriots

  • Date: Sunday 1st December 2024
  • Time: 1:00 pm EDT

As we head into December now, the Colts travel to New England in what is essentially a must-win game for them if they want any chance of advancing to the NFL playoffs. The New England Patriots, however, are seemingly already defeated in the 2024/25 season, sitting at the very bottom of the AFC East.

In our opinion, the Colts don’t need to do anything particularly special to overcome the Patriots in this game. Should Anthony Richardson have another stellar game, things should be straightforward for the Colts, with the pressure unlikely to have a negative impact on this well-rounded roster.

Game 5: Seattle Seahawks @ New York Jets

  • Date: Sunday 1st December 2024
  • Time: 1:00 pm EDT

Next up is the New York Jets vs the Seattle Seahawks, which is yet another game that is hugely important to the away team as they look to prolong their 2024/25 campaign. The Seahawks have had a much better season than the Jets, with the team from New York suffering a heartbreaking 28-27 defeat to the Colts on Sunday 17th November before getting a bye in week 12.

When we initially saw the spread for this match, we were somewhat surprised, as the Seahawks aren’t as heavy favorites as many anticipated. The Jets will likely be throwing everything into this game. However, they’re coming off a bye week and facing a team that has been superior all season long. It’s also worth touching on the head-to-head record between the two, with the Seahawks comfortably winning all five previous meetings. With all that in mind, we expect the team from Seattle to cover the spread.

Game 6: Philadelphia 49ers @ Buffalo Bills

  • Date: Sunday 1st December 2024
  • Time: 8:20 pm EDT

The Bills have been firing on all cylinders this season, sitting in third place in the entire NFL and looking to preserve their 6 win streak against the 49ers. On paper, this match shouldn’t be hard to predict, however, news that the injured Dalton Kincaid will be replaced by Dawson Knox throws a small spanner in the works.

With that being said, it looks like the odds have already incorporated this, with the spread currently favoring the Bills by 6.5 points. The team from Buffalo ended the unbeaten run of the Chiefs in week 11 and had a bye in week 12, meaning they will be entering the Highmark Stadium in prime form.

As for the 49ers, they’re coming off a brutal 38-10 stomping at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, which could certainly dent their confidence for this encounter. Taking all things into consideration, we think the Bills cover the spread and continue their charge to the top of the NFL table!

Game 7: Cleveland Browns @ Denver Broncos

  • Date: Monday 2nd December 2024
  • Time: 8:15 pm EDT

The Monday night fixture for week 13 is the Broncos vs the Browns, a match-up that tends to be closely contested. While there are often only a few points that separate these teams, we think this game could be slightly different for a couple of key factors. One of these is that Sean Payton has worked closely with Browns Quarterback Jameis Winston when they both spent time at the New Orleans Saints, meaning that an effective plan to counter his offensive play will likely be constructed.

Another thing to consider is the underperformance of the Browns throughout the 2024/25 season, with the team picking up over 50% more defeats than their entire 2023/24 campaign already. The Denver Broncos are sound offensively and with a clear plan in place for the defensive side of things, they should have little issues covering the spread against the Browns.

Our NFL betting tips for week 13 of the 2024/25 season start with a same game parlay for the Detroit Lions vs the Chicago Bears, which involves the Detroit Lions point spread -10.5, Jared Goff over 245.5 passing yards, and the match to have over 50.5 total points. We then have the Dallas Cowboys -3.5 against the New York Giants,  the Green Bay Packers -3.5 against the Miami Dolphins, the Indianapolis Colts -2.5 against the New England Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks -2.5 against the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills -6.5 against the Philadelphia 69ers, and finally, the Denver Broncos -5.5 against the Cleveland Browns.

Which game is the one to watch in week 13 of the NFL?

From a tactical perspective, we think the Green Bay Packers against the Miami Dolphins has all the makings of a thrilling game. The Denver Broncos vs the Cleveland Browns is another one to keep an eye on, as Sean Payton looks to silence his former Quarterback Jameis Winston.
