NFL Week 8 Picks: NFL Football Betting Tips and Predictions  

Week 8 of the NFL is here, with a total of 16 games for fans around the world to look forward to. Last week was full of notable games, as the Minnesota Vikings lost their unbeaten record for the 2024/25 season after being defeated by the Detroit Lions by a narrow scoreline of 31-29. Another interesting game was played inside of the MetLife Stadium, with the Philadelphia Eagles blowing the New York Giants out of the water in 28 to 3 fashion.  

In our NFL football betting tips for week 8, we share predictions for the Los Angeles Rams vs the Minnesota Vikings, The Detroit Lions vs the Tennessee Titans, and the Miami Dolphins vs the Arizona Cardinals!  

Game 1: Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Rams

• Time: 8:15 pm EDT  

• Our Pick: Minnesota Vikings -2.5  

First things first, this will certainly be a test for the Minnesota Vikings as they look to bounce back from their defeat last Sunday at the hands of the Detroit Lions. With that being said, losing to the Detroit Lions is by no means a huge slip-up, as the team currently leads the NFC North after suffering only 1 defeat this season so far. Kevin O’Connell will be tasked with resetting the mentality of the squad, allowing them to forget about the weekend antics and focus on the task at hand.  

Now, one of the standout stats from this defeat is the 144 rushing yards that were allowed to the Lions, the highest this season so far. While the Rams will try and exploit this, look out for the Minnesota star Sam Darnold, who will be looking to throw for multiple touchdowns and build for the Vikings.  

While this might seem like a pressure-filled match for the team from Minnesota, their recent defeat could also work in the opposite way, alleviating some tension and allowing key players such as Aaron Jones and Justin Jefferson to play with more freedom. Naturally, in turn, this could lead to a relatively high-scoring game between the two, which is why we think that the Minnesota Vikings will cover the -2.5 spread and ignite their run of form once again.  

Game 2: Tennessee Titans @ Detroit Lions

• Our Pick: Detroit Lions -10.5  

The first thing that punters will likely notice about this game is the huge spread, which is actually the largest one this season so far. Despite this, we’re going with the Lions to cover for a variety of different factors. One of these is, of course, the impressive form of the Detroit Lions, winning 5 of their 6 games so far in the 2024/25 NFL season. Many of these victories have been earned in a dominant fashion, which includes 47 to 9 and 42 to 29 wins against the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks, respectively.  

On the end of things, the Titans have been struggling by their standards, only managing a single victory this season so far. Their offense has been lacking tremendously, achieving an average of only 259.2 yards per game, which is rated 31st overall, with only the Cleveland Browns having a worse record.   

This game also has a few updates in terms of injuries, with Titan’s quarterback Will Levis being doubtful, while Tyjae Spears looks to make his return after missing the game against the Buffalo Bills. Running back Spears could add something to the offense of the Tennessee Titans, however, we believe that a dominant Detroit Lions victory is on the cards for Sunday.  

Game 3: Arizona Cardinals @ Miami Dolphins

• Our Pick: Miami Dolphins Money Line  

Our third and final pick for week 8 of the NFL is the Miami Dolphins to beat the Arizona Cardinals at home. The storyline for this game is the return of Tua Tagovailoa, who is scheduled to play his first game in six weeks. While many experts would agree that an appearance from Tagovailoa should bolster the offense of the Dolphins, the real question is to what degree.   

Tua slotting back into the squad and playing a seamless game looks unlikely, however, the Dolphins desperately need to put more points on the board, averaging only 11.7 per game this season so far. Naturally, this puts them at rock bottom of the PPG standings for 2024.   

On the other end of things, for the Cardinals, they’re coming in from a short week and typically don’t perform well in early kick-off games (2-5 under Jonathan Gannon). Both teams are second in their respective divisions and although the Cardinals have a better record (3 and 4 versus the Dolphins’ 2 and 4), the team from Miami arguably have more to play for in this game as they look to try and steer their season in the right direction.  

As for our pick, we think that although Tua Tagovailoa may not be at his best on Sunday if he indeed plays, he’s still favored to outperform the 26th-ranked pass defense in the NFL. It could be a close one, as the spread would suggest, but we give the edge to the Miami Dolphins.
