Harry Redknapp gives BetVictor’s football betting team his Premier League picks of the week.
In goal, let’s go with Lammens at United. There was a lot of pressure on this lad, but he did well on his first start for the club. I thought it was a very encouraging debut for the young lad, he dealt with everything that came his way.
I’m going for Timber at right-back but truth be told, I could have picked any of the Arsenal lot. What a great defence this is, they just look so solid. I like this lad a lot, he’s so solid in one-v-one situations.
Van Hecke is Brighton’s best defender these days and rescued a point in that game at Wolves. This guy barely loses anything in the air – he’s so dominant and very composed on the ball. He’s developing into an excellent centre-half.
I’m cheating a little bit because he played left-back, but I’m picking Dan Burn. Eddie must love this guy, he’s so reliable in two different positions. You look at him and think there’s no way this guy can play as a full-back, but not many get the better of him. What a career he’s had at Newcastle.
Cucurella’s become one of the best left-backs in the league, no question about that. He’s fantastic defensively and not many attackers consistently get the better of him. People might say Salah had a poor game on Saturday and a lot of that is down to this guy.
Malen had his best game in a Villa shirt, a fantastic performance. He took his two goals very, very well and showed what a threat he can be, he’s got such pace and power. Hopefully he’ll build on this and give this Villa attack a bit of a lift.
Declan Rice always seems to remind West Ham of what they used to have! He was brilliant yet again here, scoring the opener and running the show here. Obviously, he didn’t celebrate his goal which is nice to see, and those West Ham fans still appreciate what he did for the club.
Bruno Guimaraes was magnificent for Newcastle. I thought he was the best player on the park and like most games, everything Newcastle did came through this guy. He scored a lovely goal for the opener before winning the penalty, you can’t do much more.
Caicedo was top, top class against Liverpool. I don’t see too many better than this guy. I know Chelsea paid a fortune for him, but you can see the quality and impact he has on the game. He took his goal so well as well, that would probably have been the one attribute he needed to add to his game. If he can keep adding the odd goal and assist, what a player he’ll be.
Semenyo might be in my team every week at this rate, the lad is on fire! Bournemouth did so well to turn this one around and he was right at the heart of it. He was quiet for 70 minutes or so and then just exploded into life. He scored two, set up the other and was such a threat to an organised backline. I know people will say I’m biased but how can he not be my star man?
Haaland’s another easy pick. That was a better win for City than it looked and yet again, it was the main man that delivered. His goal was the sort of one that only he can score. The pace, the power, just ridiculous. He’s looking so, so good this season.
Manager: Maresca has his critics, but what a fantastic win over Liverpool. I looked at all those injuries before and then during the game and thought there’s no way Chelsea can win this. They never stopped trying though, I thought they were so positive, and they were brilliant in that last 10 minutes even with a bit of a makeshift team. He deserves huge credit and they might use this is a springboard moving forward.
