2023 Cheltenham November Meeting Betting Tips

Cheltenham November Meeting tips in text

It’s just a few days until the much-awaited November Meeting at Cheltenham, the ‘home of jump racing’, where visitors and bettors alike can enjoy Countryside Day, Gold Cup Day and November Meeting Sunday across a packed three-day event. With the main event happening on the Saturday itself, it differs a little from the earlier Cheltenham event in the year, yet still manages to pull in a big crowd. So what’s happening each day and what November Meeting betting tips can we share with you?

Countryside Day – The warm-up day for the event, the first race, the Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, kicks off at 13:10  and the day draws to a close at 16:05 with the Novices’ Handicap Hurdle. Race 5, however, the Trustatrader Novices’ Hurdle, is the big name of the day, and is run over 2 miles, 5 furlongs and 26 yards. Last years’ winner was Hermes Allen and was ridden by Harry Cobden, while early favourites and our Cheltenham Betting Tips for this November’s race are the Yorkshire Rose Syndicates’ candidate, Space Tourist, who is trained by W P Mullins, followed by John P. McManus’ horse Impose Toi, who is trained by Nicky Henderson.

Gold Cup Day – The main day of the November Meeting is the Saturday, where the first race, the JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle begins at 12:35, and the day continues till 16:05, with the last race being the Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat race. It’s Race 4, beginning at 14:20 that takes centre stage for the day. The Paddy Power Gold Cup, run over 2 miles, 4 furlongs and 44 yards normally offers a total prize pot of around £160,000, so attracts a lot of eligible big names. Last years’ winner was GA Law, ridden by Jonathan Burke, but it’s Cobden’s selection that has pips the rest as this years’ favourite. While Unexpected Party and The Real Whacker both sit at 6/1*, according to BetVictor at the time of writing, it’s Stage Star, trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by Harry Cobden, who leads the pack currently at 4/1*. While these odds are sure to change, as far as Cheltenham betting goes, Stage Star’s victory earlier this year in the Grade One Turners Novices’ Chase and his incredible form, have him firmly pegged as front-runner for this event.

November Meeting Sunday – The final day of the event is the shortest of all of them, beginning at 13:10 with the Maiden Hurdle and ending at 16:00, with the Standard Open National Hunt Flat race. Just like Day 1, it’s race number 5 at 15:30– the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle – that is the ‘big event’ of the day and a popular event among ante-post bettors. Run over 2 miles and 87 yards and currently sponsored by Unibet, last years’ winner was I Like to Move It and was ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies. This years early favourites, according to BetVictor at the time of writing, are L’Eau Du Sud, trained by Dan Skelton, at 7/1*, Nemean Lion, trained by Kerry Lee, at 6/1* and Onlyamatteroftime, trained by Willie Mullins, who currently sits in the lead at 5/1*. With such close odds between these three pack-leaders, it really is an open race, so be sure to stay tuned in to the latest Cheltenham November Meeting betting odds as the week unfolds.
