Sunday is the final day of Cheltenham’s November meeting and has some real class on show. We also have jumps action at Fontwell and Navan, plus an all-weather card at Newcastle.
The Must Watch Race Of The Day
Jonbon returns and looks the best chance of the UK winning this years Champion Chase come March. Whilst we only have the four runners its an interesting return for Nicky Henderson’s star with the seven-year-old who has only been beaten twice making his seasonal reappearance. Edwardstone, who won the Tingle Creek on his first start last season, Nube Negra, who won this race last year, and front runner Editeur Du Gite round off the field of this decent renewal which could have ante post repercussions for the big two-mile chases later this season.
Nap Of The Day
I was at Ascot when Tellherthename nearly touched off a well-regarded Nicky Henderson horse on hurdle debut. I think that experience can be a huge asset to Ben Pauling’s four-year-old, who faces a mix of younger unexposed types and some more battle-hardened types. The Kemble Brewery deserves plenty of respect on hurdles debut, but I am keener to take the price on Tellherthename to get the job done over hurdles at the second time of asking.
Tellherthename – 6/4
Each-Way Play
Another big betting race is the Greatwood Hurdle and we are offering five places to those who play each way, for me this looks a wide open handicap with my eye being drawn to Luccia. Nicky Henderson’s mare returned to action finishing second to Cheltenham Festival winner You Wear It Well at Wetherby last time out that run under her belt can be a huge benefit arriving here. She did make an error at a key time in that race so will need to have brushed up on her jumping to claim a prize of this nature.
Luccia – 7/1
