NHL Week 9 Betting Tips and Predictions

The Panthers host the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night for a game that could go a long way in deciding the team that finishes atop of the NHL Atlantic Division. When comparing these two teams, things couldn’t be more different, with the Toronto Maple Leafs sitting on an impressive win streak of four, while the Florida Panthers have lost three in a row.  

In terms of the head-to-head record between these teams, it’s rather even, with the last 4 encounters being split down the middle at 2 wins a piece. The Florida Panthers have adopted an aggressive style of play all season, while the Toronto Maple Leafs have focused more on keeping things tight at the back. We think the Panthers will likely have trouble scoring as often as they usually do and while it should be an end-to-end game, we think the team from Toronto will have more success finding the back of the next, which is why we’ve backed them to continue their winning streak on Wednesday evening!   

Game 2: Pittsburgh Penguins @ Boston Bruins

• Our Pick: Boston Bruins -1.5 Puck Line  

This game looks to be a particularly interesting one from this week’s list of matches, with both teams having an underwhelming season when compared to previous years. Boston are still within an arm’s length of the top two in the Atlantic Division, while the Penguins could see themselves rooted to the bottom of the Metropolitan Division if they don’t start finding points soon. All in all, this match has wider implications for the Eastern Conference, regardless of how it ends.  

The Bruins usually get the better of the Penguins when the two teams face off, however, in 3 of the last 5 meetings between them, the margin of victory for the team from Boston has only been one point. With that being said, the past 2 meetings have resulted in 6-4 and 5-1 victories for the Bruins, with the Penguins arguably being in much worse form for the upcoming encounter. All signs point to a dominant win for the Boston Bruins, which is why we’ve taken them at the -1.5 puck line.  

Game 3: Winnipeg Jets @ Dallas Stars

• Date: Sunday December 1st 2024  

• Time: 4:30 pm EDT  

• Our Pick: Over 5.5 Goals  

The final match we will be touching on is the Dallas Stars vs the Winnipeg Jets, which is one of the first fixtures scheduled for December of 2024. With a victory, the Jets can start to pull away at the top of the Western Conference, while the Dallas Stars could put themselves in contention for the top spot, especially since they’ve played fewer games than everyone else in the Central Division.  

If history has taught us anything about these two teams, it’s that they love to play aggressively and put points on the board. Four of the last five games that the Stars have been involved in have seen over 5.5 goals, and the Winnipeg Jets are currently the highest-scoring team in the NHL for the 2024/25 season. Our betting tip for this game is over 5.5 goals and we also expect the pace to be set from the start from both teams.

It’s a quieter time for the Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs, however, who will only be playing twice between now and Sunday December 1st.
