Nap Of The Day
Coco Gin gave us a third Nap in a row on Friday.
Lets see if we can make it four in a row with Flooring Porter. Gavin Cromwell’s Cheltenham Stayers Hurdle star made his chase debut last month at Prestbury Park, where he defied a market drift to land an impressive novice chase win.
Whilst he only had three rivals that day, Broadway Boy (second favourite) has since won well at the November Meeting, and I think whilst this race back in Ireland is much harder, Flooring Porter is up to the test, and can take another step forward to rank highly in the novice chase division.
The Must Watch Race Of The Day
Where do we start?
We are spoilt on Saturday with brilliant action all over the show.
For me, the Betfair Chase at Haydock is the most blockbuster race on offer. Just the four runners, but what a four. Bravemansgame at one stage was an unlikely runner but arrives here looking to go one better than his surprise defeat in the Charlie Hall. Lots of noise has been made about the fact Harry Cobden won’t be on board, but that won’t be likely to impact his chances.
For a long time, Protektorat was the favourite for this contest. Dan Skelton’s horse arrives as the defending champion, and it feels like this is very much his cup final. Royale Pagaille is entitled to need this run but loves the track, and the trainer is running at a near 40% strike rate.
Finally, the outsider of the field is Grand National winner Corach Rambler, he is expected to have improved from his first run of the season and could be the joker in the pack for Lucinda Russell.
Weekend Winners
With so much to cover and so little time, be sure to check out our bitesize racing preview show Weekend Winners.
As the title suggests, Broadcaster and Host Kate Tracey, pundit Declan Rix and myself, all aim to hunt out some value and share our views on all the big races today. You can watch the full show below.
