Buffalo Hold and Win Extreme is one of those slots that doesn’t try to reinvent much, it just adds to the original. For animal themed online slots one expects an outdoor setting, and this game provides. It’s the American desert; open land, warm colours, dramatic buttes, and a landscape that looks like it hasn’t seen rain in a while. The symbols stick to the expected lineup. Buffalo, wolves, cougars, eagles, and the usual card royals filling in the lower end. The buffalo takes centre stage as the main symbol, which isn’t exactly a surprise given the name. 

Animations are smooth but not overdone; wins light up, symbols move, and the Hold & Win feature adds a bit more energy when it kicks in, especially once extra grids start opening. The soundtrack is upbeat without being distracting, just enough to keep things moving.  

The Wild symbol appears as golden buffalo horns and substitutes for all standard symbols, helping complete winning combinations. 

Instead of a traditional scatter, the game uses cash symbols. These appear as gold coins with values attached and are tied directly to the main feature rather than standard payouts. 

Buffalo Bonus 

This is a random feature that can trigger when a cash symbol lands. It takes you to a wheel-style bonus where different outcomes are possible. These can include extra cash symbols, fixed prize amounts, or one of the preset bonus values. 

It’s fairly quick, but it can feed into the main feature depending on what lands. 

Hold and Win Extreme 

This is where most of the attention goes. Landing enough cash symbols starts the feature with a set number of respins. From there, every new cash symbol that lands resets the counter. 

What makes it “Extreme” is the multi-grid setup. You begin on one grid, but additional grids unlock as more cash symbols land. Each grid holds its own set of values, so the feature expands rather than just filling a single screen. 

The goal is simple enough: keep landing symbols to extend the round and fill as much space as possible. When the spins run out, all visible values are added together. 

If all positions across all grids are filled, an extra top prize is added on top, which is where the upper end of the potential sits. 

The base game runs on a 5x3 layout with 25 fixed paylines. It’s as straightforward as it sounds. Wins land left to right, and there’s no cascading, no expanding reels, none of that. 

Each spin is pretty self-contained, with the main variation coming from how often cash symbols appear and whether they lead into features. 

The pace is steady. You’re mostly waiting for either a cluster of cash symbols or the random bonus to kick things up a level. Outside of that, it plays like a standard line-based slot.

We found the Hold & Win setup to be the most engaging part, especially once extra grids start unlocking. It gives the feature a bit more presence than the usual single-screen version. The Buffalo Bonus is a nice addition, though it feels more like a side note than a core mechanic. 

On the downside, the base game can feel a bit flat between features. If the cash symbols aren’t showing up, there isn’t a lot else going on.
