Buffalo Rising Jackpot King Slot Game Review

Buffalo Rising Jackpot King by Blueprint Gaming heads out onto the open plains, mixing wildlife symbols with a Megaways layout that shifts on every spin. There’s a free spins round with a rising multiplier, plus the separate Jackpot King feature, which can trigger at any time.

Theme & Graphic

The game sticks close to the graphics of the original in this online slots series, same buttes sticking up out of a parched desert landscape, dotted with a few scraggly trees and patches of scrub grass. The only differences are the oversized Megaways grid, complete with top row, and the Jackpot King values displayed on the left of the reels.

The symbols are also imported from the original, retaining the detailed, polished look, but now we get a chance to see them better, thanks to the shifting reels. The soundtrack is vaguely Native American inspired music with slot sounds added on top.

Special symbols:

  • Wilds only show up on the far-right reel, which is a bit different from most setups. They can step in for regular symbols, helping link combinations across the grid.
  • Scatter symbols appear as pink diamonds and land anywhere to trigger the free spins round.
  • Mystery symbols also pop up now and then. When they flip, every matching one turns into the same symbol.

Bonus Features

Free Spins

Landing four or more scatter symbols brings up the free spins round. Before it starts, there’s a choice between different setups. Fewer spins come with a higher starting multiplier, while more spins begin lower. There’s also a mystery option that mixes things up.

Once the spins are rolling, every win increases the multiplier by one. It just keeps building as long as wins keep landing, so a good run can quickly stack things up. Extra spins can be added if more scatters appear along the top row during the feature.

Mystery Symbols

Mystery symbols are active in both base play and free spins. When revealed, they all turn into the same symbol. If that happens to be one of the higher-paying animals, it can change the shape of the result quite a bit.

Jackpot King Feature

Separate from the main flow, the Jackpot King feature can trigger when special symbols land across all reels. That leads into a respin round where crown symbols are collected. Build up enough of them and it moves to a prize wheel with different outcomes available.

Spin Mechanics

Everything runs on a six-reel Megaways setup. Each reel can show between two and seven symbols, so the number of ways to win shifts constantly, reaching up to 117,649 when all the reels are fully loaded. Matching symbols need to land on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost, to form a win.

BetVictor’s Opinion

Blueprint Gaming have combined three fan favourites in one game, the Buffalo Rising theme, a Megaways engine, and a link to the famous Jackpot King progressive jackpot network. It might not be the most original setup. But we all know that Blueprint’s philosophy of casino slot development includes a healthy dose of If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Players who were looking for a bit of originality might be disappointed but if you’ve played a Blueprint Megaways game before, and that’s what you want from a slot, this is the game for you.

Frequently asked questions
