As the final day of the first group games kicks off with Group E, we will see Turkey, joining the Euros for the first time since their 3rd place finish in 2002, face off against Georgia, making their debut appearance in the competition. The ‘Ay-Yıldızlılar‘ lost just one of their qualifying fixtures against Croatia, yet suffered a huge 6-1 defeat in their most recent friendly to Austria in March, while the ‘Jvarosnebi’ managed just 2 wins and suffered 4 defeats in Group A, including a huge 7-1 defeat by Spain, but qualified in the play-offs beating Luxembourg and then Greece (on penalties). With both teams wanting to start their Euro 2024 Group campaign on the right foot, let’s look at the latest Turkey vs Georgia betting odds and see who is currently favourite to win.
At the time of writing, taking a look at the latest Euro 2024 odds at BetVictor, Turkey seem to be the early favourites to grab the win at odds of 4/5, where £10 wagered would pay out £18, whilst Georgia are now priced at 10/3, with the same £10 bet returning £43.33. For those expecting to see a draw, you can expect to a £10 wager to pay £34 at the latest 12/5 odds. Even though neither team is particularly high in the FIFA world rankings, with Turkey currently at 40th and Georgia at 75th, their 5 previous head to heads have seen Georgia win only 1 of the fixtures, back in 2007, so Turkey as the match favourite makes sense.
While Turkey’s coach, Vincenzo Montella, has chosen to place his faith in captain Hakan Çalhanoğlu, to keep his team motivated, Georgia’s own coach, Willy Sagnol, will look to his captain and the country’s most capped player, Guram Kashia, alongside in-demand striker, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, to perform on the day and help their team to secure all three points. While both teams have limited experience in the European competition before, we predict that Turkey will come up trumps on the day and outscore Georgia in what will likely be a closely-contested game on the 18th June.
