Spain vs Italy Predictions, Odds & Preview | Euro Betting Tips

Another huge second matchday game in the Group stages and the second of the Group B fixtures, sees ‘La Furia Roja’ take on “the Blues” in what is sure to be a closely fought clash. While Spain won 7 out of their 8 qualifiers and have managed two 5-goal victories (5-0 and 5-1) at the start of June in consecutive friendlies, Italy won all their qualifying games, except those against England, and have a point to prove as the reigning champions, having beaten England in the Final of the Euros 2020. While the head to head results have Spain comfortably on top in recent years, let’s take a look at what the bookmakers are listing the latest Spain vs Italy betting odds at, and who they think might come out on top on the day.

Looking at the latest Euros odds at the time of writing, according to BetVictor, it seems that Spain are just slightly ahead at 6/5*, meaning a £10 bet would return £22. The Italians odds are slightly longer at 11/5*, with a £10 wager paying out £32 if correct at the end of the 90 minutes. At 9/4*, a draw seems another stable bet with the same £10 staked paying £32.50, although none of these odds are particularly at war with what would be expected when two hugely renowned footballing teams go up against each other in such a crucial match. While just a single place separates the two teams in the FIFA world standings, Spain in 8th and Italy in 9th, this is likely to be closely watched by fellow group side Croatia, who will also be looking to take an advantage in the group table after their game against Albania.

With Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, looking to his chosen captain, Álvaro Morata, to push his side on and mentor the incredibly young forward, Lamine Yamal, who has taken the record as the country’s youngest ever scorer, Italy’s own coach, Luciano Spalletti, will call on his goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and the Euro 2020 player of the tournament, to spur his own team on to a secure a victory to help them on their quest to land a second successive Euro’s trophy. Despite Italy having a strong side, they are not as strong as they were in the previous tournament having lost several players to retirement, and we predict that Spain will come out on top in what will still be a closely fought game.
