Slovakia vs Romania Predictions, Odds & Preview | Euro 2024 Tips

slovakia vs romania

Match day three in Group E sees the ‘Slovenski sokoli’ go up against the ‘Tricolorii’ in perhaps the tightest Euro group of them all – with each of the four teams currently on 3 points. While Slovakia will be looking to repeat their 1976 Euros win and be bolstered by their win against Belgium in the opening game, Romania’s undefeated qualification run and a huge 3-0 win in their first game against Ukraine that’s left them top of the table, despite a subsequent loss to Belgium, will no doubt help their confidence as they look to cement their position at the top of the group and into the Round of 16. Before we speculate further, let’s see what the latest Slovakia vs Romania odds are saying ahead of the fixture and see who the bookies expect will come away with all three points on the day.

According to the latest Euro 2024 odds at BetVictor, and at the time of writing, it appears to be a very closely contested match, with Slovakia just ahead in the odds at 17/10*, where a £10 wager would return £27 if correct, against Romania who are priced at 11/5*, with the same £10 bet paying out £32 if they were to win by the time the final whistle goes. For those who think the game might end in a draw, a £10 stake could pay £20.50 at current odds of 21/20*. While both sides have come into the tournament as underdogs, with Slovakia 48th in the FIFA World Men’s Rankings and Romania just two places above them in 46th, it seems that the result could go either way as neither side will want to condemn themselves to a difficult third place finish wait or give up ground against someone so evenly matched.

While Slovakia’s head coach, Francesco Calzona, will turn to captain and PSG player, Milan Škriniar, to help his side overcome a challenging game and in the absence of the country’s most capped player and highest goal scorer, Marek Hamšík who retired last year, Romania’s own coach, Edward Iordănescu, will hope that his captain Nicolae Stanciu can lead his team to as decisive a victory as they had in their first Group game. While both sides will undoubtedly strive to walk away with all three points, we predict that this will be evenly contested and, even with a few goals, end in a draw that will see both times looking at the other fixture to see who makes the final cut.
