Royal Ascot Day Four Preview

A very difficult tipping day yesterday but we dust ourselves down and try again. We have a great Friday card in store with plenty of value to be found.

 Albany Stakes

We get underway with an interesting looking Albany, a slightly boring selection with the favourite Fairy Godmother around 9/4 I think she is fair value to follow up from her Naas win. That race interestingly has a fine record with providing winners for this race. She ran on so nicely on that second start having been waited with and I think she displayed the required improvement to warrant backing again here.

Fairy Godmother to win

Commonwealth Cup

It is a shame a few big names aren’t in here but does to my eye open up this race Inisherin is your market leader but I am keener to be Clive Cox’s Jasour. Cox is a top trainer with sprinters and he will have this horse ripe for today. His sole visit to Ascot yielded a good win back in May the faster ground is of no concern given he has two wins to his name on good to firm. He will really give the favourite something to think about at at around 7/2 he is a bet for me.

Jasour to win

Coronation Stakes

Anyone who watches our Weekend Winners show will know how keen I have been on Elmalka for the Coronation, she was a great winner of the 1000 Guineas and I retain the belief she can reaffirm that win was no fluke. Opera Singer deserves the upmost respect but at the prices Elmalka is a solid bet for me.

Elmalka to win

Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes

Any time Ryan Moore and William Mullins team up we usual seem impressive results and they are united on Ethical Diamond here. We have seen plenty of early money for this four year old who finished second at Leopardstown on good ground. Unexposed as a flat horse he is going to well suited for the step up in trip and the better ground in my view.

Ethical Diamond to win

Sandringham Stakes

Ralph Beckett landed a Royal Ascot winner earlier in the week with Going The Distance and I think his Forever Blue is likely to have more to offer on just her fourth career start. Her debut run was a lovely win over six at Haydock before a more moderate run at Goodwood. This season we had to wait till earlier this month to see her where she won over 7 furlongs at Haydock. I think that will prove to be an above average novice race and a mark of 95 could just be very workable.

Forever Blue each way

King Edward VII Stakes

Nap of the day time and Diego Velazquez is a horse long time readers will know I was keen on for the derby at Epsom, he went elsewhere and perhaps isn’t quite going to be the horse I felt he was going to be. Into this kind of company he is rightfully favourite and I am pleased to see him up in trip better ground is helpful to him and I am expecting a big performance today.

Diego Velazquez to win

Palace Of Holyrood House Stakes

An impossible handicap to finish with and I will be having at least two bets in the race. The first will be Dyrholaey for Wathnan Racing who have really gone for it this week. Archie Watson’s horses is unbeaten in 3 starts all coming on the all weather. The sire would give you hope that he will handle the good to firm ground and continue his winning sequence. The other will be another each way dart in the form of Richard Fahey’s Airman. After a couple of wins the most recent effort was running last when slow away in a group two at Haydock. I think this different type of race will suit, ground is an unknown but his sire finished second in a Kings Stand on good to firm.

Dryholaey and Airman both each way
