Another weekend has past in the Premier League, with several surprises in store including a wonder goal for United, another successive defeat for Tottenham and a top-of-the-table spot for Arsenal, but how does that affect the table and, more importantly, how have the ‘in-danger’ managers fared when it comes to the bookies next manager odds.

The early kick-off saw Manchester City take on Liverpool at the Etihad, but a late goal from Alexander-Arnold after Haaland’s first-half opener took the shine off the game and left both sides with a point a piece at the final whistle, ending City’s winning streak at home for the first time since December 2022!

As West Ham beat Burnley, Luton took out Crystal Palace, Brighton pipped Notts Forest and Bournemouth edge out Sheffield United, it was the Newcastle vs Chelsea game that had everyone talking after the 3pm kick-offs. Having beaten Spurs and drawn with City in recent weeks, Chelsea went into the game with the football betting odds much closer than they were earlier this season. After the first-half came to an end at 1-1, a dismal second-half performance saw Reece James sent off and Newcastle land an additional 3 goals, leaving a final scoreline of 4-1 to the amazement of fans and punters alike.

The late kick-off on Saturday was Arsenal vs Brentford, with the earlier draw between City and Liverpool meaning a win would take the Gunners top. It took until the 89th minute for Kai Havertz, with a previous goal ruled out by VAR, for Arsenal to secure the win and walk away with the points. Their next game against Wolves on Saturday, could see them further extend that lead at the top, albeit they are only one point ahead of City and two points ahead of Liverpool and Villa.

By the time Sunday came, Tottenham were hoping to push back into the top spots when they took on 5th place Villa, especially with club legend Terry Venables death somewhat overshadowing the occasion. After two spurned chances, Spurs finally landed a goal with Lo Celso, but Pau Torres equalised later in the first half, before Aston Villa landed a second in the 61st minute, condemning Tottenham to their third successive Premier League defeat in November.

As the later kick-off began, United, desperate to start overturning their appalling run to the season, went to Goodison Park to take on Everton. Already struggling after a 10-point deduction that took them into the relegation zone, it took just 3 minutes for a stunning goal by Alejandro Garnacho to separate the sides. Further goals by Rashford from the penalty spot and Martial at the end of the game secured all three points, taking them into 6th behind Villa, but it was the bicycle kick that will no doubt have everyone talking still.

Monday night saw the final game play out between Fulham and Wolves, with two controversial penalties for Fulham securing them the points, the last being in the 94th minute. VAR has once again found itself in the news for all the wrong reasons, as Villa boss Gary O’Neil met with officials after the game to discuss further. But what has all this done to the manager odds?

Sheffield United’s loss to Bournemouth sees Paul Heckingbottom stay top of the list at odds of 6/4 at the time of writing, but no sacking has occurred just yet. Next sits Steve Cooper, after his loss to Brighton, at odds of 3/1, although his team didn’t play badly, so he may have some reprieve. Next in the danger zone in Vincent Kompany, who’s team was unfortunately beaten by two quick goals at the end of the game leaving him dangerously at risk with odds now of 6/1. Roy Hodgson makes a surprising leap in the odds, with a 2-1 unexpected loss against Luton Town fixing his odds currently, at 6/1 as well.

United boss Erik ten Hag, ahead of their trip to Galatasaray, seems to have earned himself some breathing room with a convincing win, albeit not convincing display, over Everton, leaving the Red Devils 6th in the Premier League. At the time of writing, he is now out at 8/1 in the next manager odds at BetVictor, a far cry from his place just a few short weeks ago. The same goes for Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, as he moves further afield to 14/1 odds after his success against Sheffield United on Saturday and leaves them at 16th in the league.

While no news has surfaced yet on manager sackings of board grumblings, we look forwards to the next round of fixtures this coming weekend, so stay tuned for more information or get involved in some Premier League betting at BetVictor today.
