It’s that time in a season the rumours start swirling and it appears that the latest on the cards is West Ham manager, David Moyes. Having overseen the club on two occasions, most recently since 2019, during which he has won the Europa Conference League and taken the Hammers into European places several times, his apparent ‘negative’ style of play has annoyed some fans and it appears the club are considering changing style. While nothing is for certain as of yet, let’s take a look at the next West Ham manager odds market, and see who could be in the running to take over the role if it became available.
A quick glance at BetVictor, at the time of writing, show 5 leading names leading the pack at the second. In fifth place, with odds of 10/1, meaning a £10 bet would pay out £110, is Michael Carrick, the current Middlesbrough manager and a former West Ham player, albeit with a lack of top-tier managerial experience to his name.

In fourth place is Graham Potter at 6/1*, where a £10 wager would return £70. Potter has been out of management since his tenure at Chelsea ending last April, but other clubs like Ajax appear to have him on their radar so West Ham would have to move quick. In third is Gary O’Neil with odds of 5/1*, so a £10 bet would pay £60 if correct. O’Neil is currently the acting manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who sit 11th in the Premier League table, so while he has the experience to take the helm, he may be difficult to prise away from Wolves. In second place is Paulo Fonseca, who at odds of 4/1* would see a £10 wager pay out £50. Fonseca is currently managing Lille, but has maintained a 50%+ win rate at all four of his last clubs, so would be a great fit if they could tempt him. The only negative is that he has no English managerial experience so this could prove tricky.

Leading the race at the second for the next West Ham manager odds is Julien Lopetegui at just 2/1*, where a £10 bet would return £30. The Spaniard was most recently the manager of Wolves before O’Neil took over, however his record there was not as impressive as his previous roles, so his potential appointment would come with an element of risk.

With three big matches to go before the end of the season, the next away to Chelsea on the 5th May and Manchester City away as their final game, the Hammers will likely have more important things on their mind for now. While European qualification this season looking unlikely and the chance to drop into the bottom half of the table if results don’t go their way, expect more rumours to circulate as the games unfurl.
