Another blockbuster game for Euro 2024 and a battle of the different colours, sees ‘the Oranje’ take on ‘Les Bleus’ in what will likely be a battle for a first and second place group finish. While the Netherlands have won the Euros in the past, their qualifying run saw two defeats – both to France – so they will be looking for revenge, while France themselves, a two time Euro Champion, lost just once in their qualifying journey but oversaw a huge 14-0 win against Gibraltar last November, will be going into this game looking to repeat their two recent victories against the Dutch in March and October of last year. With all that in mind, who do the bookmakers think will come out on top when these two teams meet in the evening kick-off on the 21st June.
A quick glance at the BetVictor latest Euro 2024 betting odds, at the time of writing, has Netherlands as the outsiders with odds of 13/5*, meaning that a £10 wager would pay £34 if correct, whilst France are priced at 10/11*, so a £10 bet on them to win would return £19.09 if successful at the end of the game. The current price on a draw is £36 on a £10 bet, with odds of 13/5* identical to the Dutch winning the game themselves. With France the highest European-placed team in the FIFA World Standings behind Argentina, and Netherlands a few places lower in 7th, the latest betting odds seem understandable, but it’s unlikely to be a walk in the park against a side that has shown their footballing might on many a previous occasion.
While Netherlands coach, Ronald Koeman, will look to his captain Virgil van Dijk to spur on leading goalscorer Memphis Depay as he attempts to overtake leading goalscorer, retired Robin van Persie, with just 6 more goals, France’s head coach, the legendary Didier Deschamps, will turn to Kylian Mbappé and vice-captain Antoine Griezmann, alongside the country’s leading goalscorer, Olivier Giroud, to put the game to bed early on. Despite Netherlands having a strong side, the incredulous strike power of the French team will be hard to match, and we predict that they will be hard to stop as the Blues eventually come out on top.
